Audrey and I walk down the hallway together talking about things that all girls do. Shoes, clothes, food, and of course, boys.

"Niall and I have been together for a year, ten months, and four days." She says with a grin. It's amazing how her eyes light up when she talks about him like he is her whole world. I can't help but be jealous at how she has something that I've never gotten the chance to have.

"That's amazing that your relationship has lasted that long. My last one didn't end too well."I say as we walk into the classroom. We sit at separate tables but so were are still sitting side by side. I think she will drop the conversation but when we are settled into our seats she turns to me again.

"What happened?" She asks. I open my mouth to start the long story of my failed love life when the bell rings signaling the start of class. She narrows her eyes at me and I shrug and give her a small smile. She rolls her eyes before turning her attention to Mr. Cox. The seat next to me is still vacant so I set my book bag on it and cross my legs under my desk.

Mr. Cox starts talking about things that are completely irrelevant to me so I turn and grab my phone out of the pocket on my book bag. I start scrolling through Instagram when the door opens and I look at the one and only, Liam Payne. We make eye contact and I quickly look away not wanting him to think I'm staring.

Mr. Cox turns to him and crosses his arms over his chest before speaking. "Would you like to explain why you are late Mr. Payne?" he says. Liam rolls his eyes before shifting the weight of his book bag to the other shoulder and slightly cocking his hip. Mr. Cox sighs and mumbles something under his breath before speaking again. "Take a seat Liam."

Liam looks around the room for an empty seat and the only one open is currently occupied by my book bag. He smirks at me and I sigh moving my bag off of the chair while he stalks over. He tosses his book bag on the floor and sits in his chair, turning to me.

"Hey." He says. I glare at him out of the corner of my eyes and look away. "You trying to ignore me or something?"

"I'm doing the best that I can." I say shortly. I hear him chuckle as he speaks again.

"Damn who pissed in your cornflakes?" He says laughing. I roll my eyes and actually focus on Mr. Cox just so I can tune him out. I can feel his eyes on me but I refuse to look at him. I keep my gaze straight ahead.

"We will be starting with a project right off the bat. You will get with a partner and do a report on a news story that you think is worth writing about." He says. I look over at Audrey and she is grinning at me so I do the same thing back. She moves her hand between us and I get that she wants us to be partners. "But, before you all get ahead of yourselves, I have chosen your partners." Mr. Cox says and the only sound in the room is one large groan.

Mr. Cox grabs his clipboard and the whole time he is reading off names, I'm praying: Please be with Audrey, please be with Audrey. But of course Audrey was put with a girl named Morgan. I keep listening for my name and it doesn't come until the very end.

"Lastly, Rain Ashford and Liam Payne." Mr. Cox says and my heart drops. I look over at him with his teasing smirk and I inwardly groan.

What. The. Frick.
