The rest of the school day goes by slowly and I find myself thinking about Liam, even more than I usually do. He wasn't in any of the classes he has with me confirming his anger. I just hope he doesn't go out and do something stupid.
I decide to give him space while I check the front door to see if the soccer roster had been posted yet.

I don't even bother reading the Junior Varsity part after I see my name. A giant grin breaks out on my face as I walk to my car, excited to tell everyone.
The first thing I do after throwing my bag in the backseat and starting the car is pull out my phone to call Liam. As it's dialing I face palm myself remembering I agreed with myself to give him time to cool off. I'm about to hang up when he answers making me put the phone back up to my ear.
"Hello?" He says. His voice sounds thicker than usual and I can't decipher the reason.
"Hey Liam. I just wanted to see how you were doing." I say wincing at how pathetic and awkward I sound.
"Uh I'm fine." He says.
"Look can we talk?" I say. I hear him sigh along with some background noises.
"Yeah. Starbucks in 10?" He asks. I nod before realizing he can't see me.
"Yes that's perfect." I say. He ends the call without another word and I pull the phone away from my ear, looking at it in shock. He didn't even say goodbye. I sigh plugging it into the auxiliary cord before putting my music on shuffle and driving to Starbucks.
Pulling into the parking lot I see no sign of Liam's car. I step out of mine fixing my cardigan before walking into the store. I order my drink before sitting on one of the stools near the back of the building. I open my messaging app, sending texts to everyone saying I made the soccer team.
"You're such a typical white girl." I hear. My head shoots up and I smile at Liam who stands with his hands in the pockets of his leather jacket. I smile at him as he sits across from me, eyeing me carefully.
"Yeah I guess I am." I say. He smiles back at me before his expression changes into a significantly more guarded one.
"Look I don't want a lecture from you Rain." He says looking me in the eyes. I furrow my eyebrows confused.
"Why would you think I was going to lecture you?" I say and he shrugs. I take a deep breath looking away from him momentarily. "Can I at least ask why you hit him?" I say. He nods sucking in a breath.
"He told me to stay away from you, you know? But you're just so damn captivating that I couldn't. And I wasn't going to let his words ruin what we have." He says looking away from me this time. I stand up from the stool, tossing my cup in the trash, and grasp onto his hand pulling him out of the building.
