"Holy shit it's hot." I say wiping the sweat off of my forehead.
"Difference between you and I. You cuss." Morgan says with her hands on her knees taking labored breaths.
It's the very first week of varsity soccer practice and they have us conditioning hard.
"I could wring the sweat out of my headband right now." I say tugging on my ponytail to tighten it.
"Alright ladies get a drink." Coach Waters says. We all sigh in relief, jogging over to the hose.
"This. Is. Insane." Avery says. "I feel like I have heat stroke and my shin splints are coming back!"
"My knee is hurting again." I say.
"My wrist hurts." Morgan says. Avery and I stop what we're doing, turning to Morgan and looking at her weirdly.
"What the hell do your wrists have to do with soccer?" I ask laughing. They both join me as Morgan shrugs. I get one last drink from the hose and look over to where the guys are practicing. I try to spot Liam and fail as the coaches call us back over.
"Alright ladies. Long distance. Go." Coach Bryan says. There is a chorus of groans but he blows his whistle. "Get a move on!" He says with a smile.

"I am so glad that's over." Morgan says while taking her shinguards off. Avery and I hum in response while we do the same. We all stand and start walking to our cars.
"Rain, Morgan!" A voice yells I turn and see Ashton jogging up to us. "Hey Avery." He says and flashes her a smile.
"I'll see you guys later." She says before walking to her own car.
"So want to go out to eat?" Ashton asks us. We both smile at him and nod. I look over Ashton's shoulder and see Liam walking towards us. Ashton notices my starts and turns around spotting Liam. He immediately tenses and I know I have to act fast.
"Text me where we're going and I'll meet you guys there." I say. They both nod, walking away quickly just as Liam approaches us.
"He didn't want to face me huh?" He says with a smirk kissing me swiftly on the lips.
"Whatever makes your ego bigger." I mumble.
"Let's go out tonight." He suggests and I wince.
"I already have plans..." I trail off looking away.
"With Ashton?" He says. And I nod. "No absolutely not."
"Well Morgan is going to be there too." I say.
"And that makes a difference!?" He almost yells making me roll my eyes.
"You're overreacting right now. He wouldn't try anything with Morgan there." I say to him and he rolls his eyes.
"That's bullshit and you know it." He scoffs.
"Okay Liam. I'll see you later." I say turning on my heel and walking away.
"Fine. Fine! Go to Ashton. But don't be mad when I move to Sophia."
No.
"You don't mean that." I say stopping in my tracks and turning to face him.
"But I do." He says with a smirk. I glare at him but his smirk grows. I huff and turn away from him. I hear him growl in response.
"You get in that car and we're done!" He says. I sigh taking a deep breath.
"Bye Liam."

"I'm here guys." I say walking up to the table in Panera that Ashton and Morgan are sitting at.
"Everything alright?" Ashton asks. I nod my head.
"Yeah of course." I say. He raises an eyebrow at me, searching my eyes.
"Okay." He says unconvinced. I give him a small smile before sliding in to the seat next to his.

"Later Morgan!" I say as she gets into her car. She drives off and I turn to Ashton.
"Well I'll see you tomorrow I guess." I say. He nods before giving me a short awkward hug and walking away. I walk to my own car pulling out my phone as I do so. I check mainly for messages from Liam but there are none. I sigh.
"Maybe he was serious." I say to myself. I plug my phone into the auxiliary cord playing Sleeping With Sirens the whole way to my house.
I open the door to my house tossing my bag on one of the bar stools. I sigh and hear someone clear their throat. I turn seeing my dad standing in the doorway Liam's jacket in hand.
"We need to talk."
