“Liam?” I ask in disbelief. He says nothing to answer my obvious question. Ashton clears his throat and I am snapped back to reality. “What are you doing here?” I ask Liam. He shrugs.
“I don't know. I just thought that after last night you would want to hang out again but you weren't answering your phone... And now I know why.” He says glancing at Ashton.
“Wait what happened last night?” Ashton asks. We both ignore him and continue our conversation.
“Nothing happened Liam. I just went out with Ash and Morgan to meet some new people since you know I'm new here?”
“Wow. Already using nicknames huh?” He says scoffing and rolling his eyes.
“Li-” I start but he cuts me off.
“No just save it. I don't want to hear it.” He spits. I open my mouth to speak again but then decide not to in fear of making the situation worse than it already is. He says goodbye to my mom and looks me in the eyes one last time before shaking his head and walking out, hitting Ashton's shoulder on the way out.
I sigh heavily, slumping in to a chair and setting my face in my hands. Ashton just stands and watches while my mom comes over and rubs my back.
“It'll be okay sweetie. It was just a misunderstanding.” She says.
“I don't know if it will mom.” I say sniffling a bit.
“Don't worry about it. Just give him a little time and it will all work itself out. Maybe send him a little text tonight, yeah?” She says squeezing me to her side. I laugh a bit at her actions before looking up at her face.
“Yeah. Thanks mom.” I say smiling. Ashton clears his throat from where he is standing and I break my mother's gaze to look at him.
'Um I'm gonna go...” He says, looking extremely uncomfortable under my mom and I's gazes. “I'll see you Monday.” I nod to him and he gives me a small smile before walking out the front door.
I say pecking her on the cheek before walking up the stairs and to my room. I shut and lock the door behind me before walking into the bathroom. I look in the mirror: my hair is a mess and there are faint dark circles under my eyes.
“God what the hell is happening to me?” I say to my reflection in the mirror. I sigh and shake my head before stripping down and hopping in the shower. I start to hum a Jonas Brothers song while I wash my hair and body. After all of the soap is washed off of my body I step out of the shower and wrap a towel around my hair and body. I walk back into my room. I walk over to the window and shut the blinds before dropping the towel off of my body.
I grab a T-Shirt and a pair of shorts and slip them on along with a pair of fuzzy socks. I take the towel off of my hair and shake my hair out a little before running my hands through it to get rid of the tangles. I grab the remote for the TV on the wall, turning it on to MTV and grabbing my phone before laying down on my bed, feet by the headboard laying on my elbows. I slide the screen on my phone and open the messaging app. My fingers hover over Liam's name as I debate with my brain whether or not to text him. I think back to what my mom said earlier and decide to send him a short one.
*Hey I'm sorry about what happened tonight. It wasn't what it looked like and was a misunderstanding. I had a lot of fun with you and want to keep hanging out but I realize that you might need a little time. Just talk to me when you're ready.* I sigh heavily when I press the send button hoping it isn't too much too soon. I turn the volume on the TV down slightly and situate myself on the right end of the bed and under the covers. I pull them up to my chest before drifting off to sleep.

The next morning I wake up to a soft knock on my door. I unwillingly open my eyes to see my mother standing in the doorway. I sit up in bed and rub my eyes before looking at her again.
“Yeah?” I question. She is in a nay blue maxi-dress and I wonder what she is so dressed up for.
“Are you wanting to come to church today?” She asks. It takes a few seconds for the words to register in my mind before I nod and shoot out of bed. She chuckles and shuts the door and I hear her footsteps go down the stairs. I walk into my closet and look around at all of the outfits before settling with a black and white chevron sundress and my white sandals. I change quickly and brush my hair pulling the top half back and securing it with a sparkly black clip. I grab my phone and purse and hurry down the stairs and grabbing a granola bar before meeting my mom in the car.
“Okay I'm here.” I say breathless. My mom laughs a bit before starting the car and backing out of the garage.
“Glad you took a shower last night huh?” She says and I nod. I open the granola bar and take a bite off of it as I watch the world go by outside my window.
“I want you to stay for youth group after church. Most of the kids who attend are from your school so yo might know some of them.” She says and I nod. This is my first time going to this new church since we have lived here and I am extremely nervous. She reaches her hand over and squeezes my shoulder in reassurance. “You'll be fine.” I nod again in response. She pulls up to the church and parks in a spot close to the front. We walk into the sanctuary of the building and sit down in a pew in the back. Throughout the whole service I am looking around for people I know but since we are in the back and the other people are facing the front all I can see is the back of people's heads. The service ends and my mom tells me where youth group meets and to call her when we are so she can pick me up. I give her a hug and a kiss on the cheek and she walks out the door.
I follow her directions to where the youth group meets and hear a room with a lot of chatter coming out of it. I take a deep breath and step in to the room. Everyone in the room turns to look at me and I feel a bit awkward until Avery and Morgan jump up and embrace me in a hug.
“Oh. Hi guys!” I say.
“I didn't know you went to this church!” Morgan exclaims.
“This is my first day. My mom has been here for the service a few times but I have been too scared.”
They both laugh at my statement before leading me over to their chairs and pulling up an extra one for me to sit in. I look around the circle of people and notice Luke and Ashton are here too. I wave at Luke and he waves back but when I look at Ashton he avoids my gaze and looks at the ground. I furrow my eyebrows a bit but brush it off and leave him alone.
I go back to talking with Morgan and Avery for a while before the teacher comes in.
“Alright everyone- oh! Do we have a new student today?” She says looking at me and I nod slightly. “Wonderful! Well I'm Jess! What's Your name?” She asks.
“Rain.” I say.
“That's a lovely name. Do you already know everyone else in the group?” I look around the small circle and nod. “Great so lets get started then?” She starts to teach and everyone else quiets down and looks at her as well. I about the middle of her lesson I feel my phone vibrate in my hand. I glance down at the screen and my eyes grow wide when I see the name.

iMessage
Dammit. Why did I decide to lock the messages? I slide the phone back into my purse and pay more attention to what Jess is saying. Liam will have to wait.
