The Unexpected Couple

Chapter Eleven

I wake up the next morning and groan stretching as I do so. I glance at the clock and it reads 7:45. My eyes widen and I shoot out of bed and rush to get ready. I run into the kitchen where my parents are sitting and talking with their coffees in hand.

"Why didn't you wake me up!!!" I yell at them.

"I thought you were up already sweetie." My mom says.

"Seriously?" I look at her. She shrugs. I roll my eyes before grabbing my purse and book bag. I half walk half jog over to them and kiss both of them on their cheeks. "I'll see you later." I say walking out of the door and to my car.

The parking lot is mostly empty except for the few late stragglers. I look at the clock and sigh. I'm about ten minutes late. "Should have gotten breakfast or something." I mumble under my breath. I grab my bags and step out of the car slamming the door and walking in the direction of the school.

I grab all of my things for chemistry from my locker before walking to the classroom. I take a deep breath and open the door. All heads turn towards me and I spot Liam's quickly. We make eye contact and I look away walking to my seat next to Connor.

"Hello Ms. Ashford would you like to explain why you are late?" Mrs. Welch says. I internally sigh and turn to face her.

"I overslept." I say.

"Why?" She shoots back at me. I hear a couple of guys snicker and roll my eyes.

"Because I'm human and I make mistakes. It won't happen again." I pull out the chair from the table plopping down in it and crossing my arms over my chest. I glance over at Connor who had his hand over his mouth trying to suppress a smile. I glare at him and he laughs at my face making everyone turn and look at us. I glare at everyone and they turn back around. After they do so I slap Connor's shoulder. "Shut up." I hiss through clenched teeth. He winks at me and I roll my eyes focusing on the teacher.

The bell rings and I stand up from my chair ready to walk away but Connor stops me.

"Uh I was just wondering if I could have your number? Not to be weird or anything just if like I need help-" He says.

"Yes Connor you may have my number." I say. He lets out a breath that I don't think he knew he was holding then holds out his phone to me. I do the same for him and we finish exchanging numbers.

"Thanks." He says smiling his perfect white smile at me. I smile back at him before turning on my heel and walking away. I spot Audrey in the hallway but don't see Niall around her. I walk over to her but her eyes are fixed on something. I follow her gaze to Niall and the girl he sits with in chemistry... Kacee I think? They're flirting. My eyebrows raise and I look at Audrey and back to the two of them.

Niall isn't really making any flirtatious actions but he isn't stopping her's either. She reaches out and shoves his shoulder playfully making him laugh. I shake my head and turn stepping in front of Audrey to break her gaze. She looks at me and sighs.

"Sorry I didn't even see you standing there." She says.

"Don't worry about it. So are you coming to my 'initiation' today?" I ask her. She gets a wicked smile on her ace but it drops as Niall walks over.

"Hey babe." He says. He leans in to kiss her lips but she turns her head to the side so his lips touch her cheek. "What?" He asks looking confused.

"Don't what me. I saw you with her." She shoots at him.

"Who Kacee?" He says.

"That her name then?"

"Well yeah but we weren't doing anything wrong." She scoffs and rolls her eyes.
