"Everyone else might idolise you but none of us at this table do, Diggory," Pansy Parkinson spat as she watched Arden walk up too the Slytherin table. Arden stopped behind Astoria, who she was planning to talk to from the table.
She smiled down at Pansy sweetly. No matter how much Arden wanted to hex the nasty girl, she remained to be the more mature person, and be civilised.
"Aw well thank you for saying that everyone idolises me!" Arden chirped, "I'm sure that's something you wish you could experience in just your friend group," she retorted. Arden felt a nasty gut feeling as the Slytherin table all laughed at Pansy, although after many years of that girl teasing her, Arden felt it wasn't that bad to be a bit nasty to her just one time.
Before Arden could begin her conversation with Astoria, a particular blond boy perked up to fire back at Arden.
"What's gotten you so uptight Miss Perfect? Never even seen you glare at someone and now you're fighting back all of a sudden," he teased.
Arden flipped her long brunette locks, pretending to act vain and self absorbed. "Oh Malfoy, you may be one of the top students in the grade but you really need to use some insults that tell me something I don't already know! Besides, your insults are compliments, not even remotely insulting."
Draco glared up at Arden. The big grin on her face infuriated him. She would always humiliate him in front of everyone with her kindness, never would she say anything directly insulting, only very slight even when he would really push her buttons and begin to insult her older brother. Draco stood from his seat, towering over Arden.
Arden chuckled, "you've gotten a lot taller over the summer," she commented. Arden wasn't even being remotely insulting, but somehow, her voice, appearance, her very presence bothered Draco Malfoy.
"Yeah, taller than that pathetic boyfriend of yours," Draco snarled.
Arden smiled and managed to force tears to well up in her eyes. She smacked her hand onto Draco's shoulder with faux pride, repeatedly patting him like a parent would to their accomplished child.
"You've achieved your dream of being taller than Harry," she said softly. "I-I'm so proud!" Arden exclaimed, holding back fake tears. Draco glared down at the Diggory girl, who was sitting down next to Astoria, quickly discussing the Potions work they were meant to do on the summer. He hated her guts, but he always found an excuse to try and tease her, but in the end he was always the one who gets humiliated.
