My first day at work was going great and it seemed like it couldn't get any better until I met a blond haired man with the prettiest blue eyes.
"You new here?" The blond haired man asked.
"Yeah my name's Rhi. What's yours?" I asked the blond haired man.
"My name is Kurt." He said with a smile that was somewhat flattering.
"Well it's nice to meet you Kurt." I said returning the smile.
"Rhi would you maybe be interested in hanging out tonight?" Kurt asked catching me off guard.
"Sure I get off at six." I said actually quite happy to have met someone.
"Well I'll be up here at six then." He said flashing me a grin before exiting the store.
I thought my day was going good before it was going great now. I had just met possibly the most gorgeous guy I had ever laid eyes on and to top it all off he wanted to hang out with me. That was really some thing that I didn't expect.
When six rolled around I saw Kurt come walking up I was very flattered to see that he did what he said he was going to do.
"So are you ready Rhi?" He asked as he laid eyes on me.
"Yeah I'm ready." I said. I barely got the words out before he took me by the hand and lead me out of the gas station.
"So where are we gonna hang out at?" I asked looking a Kurt curiously.
"I was thinking that we could hang out at my place." Kurt said looking up at the sky.
I didn't say much else I simply nodded and proceeded to follow him. His house was small but it comfortable none the less. I didn't mind being around him. I got this strange sense that I could trust him even though I barely knew him.
"So Rhi how long have you been in Washington?" He asked as we were inside getting settled on his couch.
"Well two weeks ago my plane landed and I spent two weeks walking from Seattle and wound up in this town. I decided to stay get a job and figure out the rest of my life here in this town." I said with a small smile.
"Wow so you just recently moved here?" He asked shocked.
"Yeah and other than my boss you're the first person I've met that I actually don't mind talking to." I stated unable to hold back my smile.
"So where are you from originally?" Kurt asked.
"I'm originally from Aurora, Colorado. It's actually pretty beautiful out there for being a decent sized city." The words left my lips and I felt insanely comfortable around a guy that I had just barely met.
"Shit you're a long way from home. What made you decide to come out here?" He asked even more curious by me than he was before.
" I wanted to live my own life and that was something that my family made damn near impossible for me." I said not even really wanting to think about that.
He didn't say much more about that after I said that. We started talking about anything and everything else that we could think of but at the same time staying respectful each other's limits. Music seemed to be where we got a long best.
"I'm in this band and I'd really love for you to hear us play. What do you say about coming over this Friday and watching us practice?"
"That sounds amazing I'd love too. Oh shit it's getting late I better get back home." I said really not wanting this to end.
"Let me walk you home. Please?" He said with a brilliant smile.
"Alright." I said matching his smile with a goofy grin of my own.
"So tell me Rhi, were you dating anyone back home?" Kurt asked as we walked out his front door into the chilly night air.
"No not really I was more of the stay away me and I'll stay away from you type of person." I said with a dry humorless laugh.
"Really a beautiful girl like you being extremely anti-social is hard for me to believe." He commented with a small humorfilled laugh.
"Yeah that's what a lot of people say about me until they realize I have a really 'sunny' disposition." I laughed with more humor this time.
As we walked out eyes connected, standing out there in the feather light wind, I could see into his heart through his eyes. He truly had a heart of gold and I was sure of it.
"Rhi do you think we can hang out again tomorrow? I had a really good time with you tonight." He said with a dopey grin that got his features so well.
"I'd like that but I work until six tomorrow." I said realizing we were about three blocks from the motel I was staying in.
"Well I'll just pick you up from work at six and we can just walk back to my house." He said flashing yet another smile.
"Sounds good." I said as we came to a stop in front of my motel room door.
"C'Ya tomorrow Rhi." He said to me before kissing my forehead and walking away.
I went inside my motel room desperately trying to figure out what just happened. Was I making a new friend or was I falling in love. I wasn't sure so I decided to call home to my mom and talk to her for a while.
"Hey momma." I said when she finally picked up the phone.
"Hey sweetheart. How's Washington?" Mom asked me.
"Pretty good I met this guys his name is Kurt. He seems pretty nice and the prettiest blue eyes I have ever seen." I told my mom.
" Sounds like you're doing just fine in Washington baby. I don't know what I was so worried about." My mother said finally realizing that I could take care of myself and keep myself alive.
"How's everyone back home?" I asked not quite ready to let my mom go just yet.
"They're doing good a lot of them sure miss the hell out of you." She said.
"Yeah I'm sure they do but this is my life now." I said really happy to be saying that."I know Rhi darling, but I need to go so I can get some sleep." She said with a yawn.
"Okay good night momma." I told her before hanging up the phone and trying to settle down and get some sleep myself. I had a big day the next day between working and going to hang out with Kurt yet again.
