Chapter 16: Painting

He kneels down on one knee, and pulls a small velvety box out of his pant pocket. He pops it open, and in it rests a beautiful black diamond that lays upon a golden ring.

"I figure," he begins "that since you let me open a present early, I'll give you my best present early too." I feel lots of excitement coursing through my body, and am about to cry tears of joy. "And I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me, Beatrice?" he asks. Then I full out cry with joyful years.

"Yes," I say. "Id love to." He looks at me in the eyes, and then kisses me.

"To be continued" he whispers in my ear when he see the waiter coming back. We sit down, and I see we're both blushing. We order some dauntless cake for dessert, and then Tobias pays.

"We don't have to get married for a while, unless you want to. Since we're still pretty young to be married, I thought that I would make sure nobody else can take you away from me, because I know I can't live without you." He says to me. I agree we're still pretty young to be married, but I want to be. We decide to get married during the summer, and will start planning soon. This town is becoming better and better. I can be remade here.

I wake up excited. Christina came over last night with all our friends. They still don't know about the engagement, but we are telling them this morning. I run downstairs in my red and green plaid pajama pants and black t-shirt it find Tobias and Zeke talking. They don't see me, so I hide behind a wall and eavesdrop.

"Im really in love with her" says Zeke. Who?

"Yeah, Shauna is amazing." Agrees Tobias. "But I love Tris." I smile at that part.

"I want to be with Shauna forever, but I don't know how she feels about me." Zeke says worriedly.

"I can find out for you. I bet she loves you even more." Tobias assures him. Then Zeke changes the topic.

"So how's tris?" he asks

"I wake up everyday thinking about her, and the last thing I think about before I fall asleep is her. She is perfectly beautiful, and I can't wait till we get married in the summer."

"Wait, what?" Zeke asks, surprised.

"I proposed to her last night, and she said yes. I can show you the ring if you'd like. " He replies. At this point, Zeke's jaw has dropped to the ground. Zeke nods.

"Tris!" he yells. I gulp, waiting about a minute before entering the room. He eyes my ring, and directs his eyes to Zeke. I wiggle my left hand at Zeke, sort of waving. The ring fits me perfectly, and is beautiful. I hear a gasp, and see Christina standing in the doorway. We seem to have interrupted her yawn, since her mouth is stretched open. she squeals, and runs to hug me.

"When were you going to tell me?" she asks.

"I was going to surprise everyone this morning, but it doesn't seem like that's happening anymore. I think they'll find out on their own. " I smirk, and so does everyone else in the room. We decide to wake the others up since it is 8:30 already, and start to open presents. I get a bunch of things before I have to fork over the gifts I gave out. I had received a pair of black skinny jeans, a grey and black sweatshirt, and some new black and gold combat boots from Christina, a navy blue and gold studded dress from Marlene and Uriah, the album 'red by Taylor Swift' and a pair of black on black vans that match black leather skinny jeans from Zeke and Shauna. Lynn gets me a studded pair of converse that are limited edition, and golden makeup that she is obsessed with; the kit includes golden hairspray, eyeshadow, eyeliner, cheek highlighter, mascara, lip gloss, lipstick, blush, and hair dye. Finally, peter gets me a distress necklace, which has a button that signals anyone who can help, and sends our sound waves that hypnotize the attacker. Smart.
