At school, Rose had to lie to David saying that the project she "completed" that night wasn't due until the next Thursday and she had the date wrong on her planner. Luckily, he fell for it. It did pain her that she was telling all these lies straight to his face, but whats going on with her and Niall is actually starting to blossom again. The last thing she needed was an overprotective friend. Although, she never found out why he was so overprotective with her. At first her thought was he had a crush on her but that only made her laugh.

"What's so funny?" David asks.

"Oh..." She forgot that he was sitting right in front of her. "I was just thinking...I just wanted to ask you--if you'd rather not answer it's fine--actually I think it's better if I don't ask--"

"It's fine, Rose." He gives her a reassuring nod.

Taking a deep breath in, Rose wished she had shut her mouth. "I was wondering lately, why you are sort of overprotective whenever it comes to me and Niall."

His face expression falls. "Well," he coughs, "when I first met you--you were a wreak...no offense. We met and you barley smiled or laughed. I knew you had a bad break up with someone you cared about and what he did was fucked up. Whenever he came around all I want to do is protect you from him so you wouldn't get hurt. Now you are in such a good mood lately and I'm not going to let that asshole take that away from you."

If only Rose could tell him that it was Niall who was lifting her spirits up. All he was doing was protecting her from what he thinks will cause harm to her--It did after her break up--but not now. She reaches over to his hand and holds it. "Thank you, David. But I don't think that's necessary anymore. I feel much better and believe that it's time to move on."

This makes David smile and blush. He gives her hand a small squeeze.
