*Jason's POV*
Anxious.
That's exactly what I am.
Time is passing by faster than ever, it's nearly 8 o'clock right now.
I tapped my fingers on the table rapidly.
When will it be time?
If we don't get the drugs and get out of here soon, we'll start to look suspicious, since we hadn't ordered anything to eat.
I can't afford to be caught here when the armed men arrive.
Especially when Y/N was with me.
Suddenly, a man in a dark gray tuxedo walked by our table.
As he did, he gave a leg of my chair one solid kick.
That was it.
The signal.
I glanced knowingly at Mark, and he nodded in understanding.
"Y/N, let's go." I commanded her, seizing her wrist and pulling her to her feet.
I would not let her leave my side at a time like this.
All three of us abandoned the table and headed to the back of the restaurant.
We barged into the kitchen.
"I need to speak to the head chef." I demanded.
That sentence was a code.
It may have seemed as if I was requesting the head chef, but I was actually asking to be brought to the stash of drugs hidden here.
"Of course." A nearby waiter said.
He escorted us to the back of the kitchen, where a small metal door was located.
He knocked on it three times, and it opened.
We were ushered into the room immediately.
The door slammed shut behind us.
Leaning against a wall in the corner of the room farthest from us was a formally dressed man.
"I'm assuming that you received the signal?" He inquired.
"Yeah." I affirmed, eyeing the amount of briefcases in the room.
They're all lined with assorted pills and powdered drugs.
"Do you have the cash?" The man asked.
I motioned to Mark, who placed two big cases on the polished wooden desk in the center of the room.
"There is exactly five hundred thousand dollars in each of those cases." I explained.
"Meaning that if you have our promised goods, you can walk out of this joint with one million dollars in hand."
The man opened one of the cases and ran his eyes over the money.
He picked up a stack of it and smiled greedily.
"You've got yourself a deal." He confirmed.
"I'll ship these to you to make things easier."
"Perfect." I murmured.
I looked at my watch.
It's 8:55 already?
"It was great trading with you sir." I concluded the trade session.
I urged Mark and Y/N out of the room.
"It's 8:55, we have to get out of here now!" I hissed.
We rushed from the kitchen just in time to see men with guns starting to enter the building.
We're too late.
I yanked Y/N and Mark down behind a table.
"Okay, here's the plan." I whispered.
"We're going to stay as quiet as possible and try to keep out of sight. Even though we're wearing masks, it's best to stay unnoticed."
"Everyone in the building!" A male voice echoed through the room.
Everybody stopped talking.
"Stay in your seats and don't move. You all should remain silent. Anyone who objects to these simple orders will be shot and killed immediately!"
An elderly man stood up.
"This is tyranny!" He shouted.
"I'm going to call the-"
Gunshots were fired, and the man fell to the ground, dead.
"Y/N, you're staying right by me." I ordered.
I snatched out my platinum handled pistol and fired at the armed men.
They shot back right away and started to come to the back of the room.
"Mark, cover the left side of the room!" I barked and shot at the men once again.
I managed to take out two of them that time.
"Jason," Y/N uttered, her voice edged with fear.
"I-I'm scared."
I ducked behind the table again and hugged her to me.
"Don't worry, I'll protect you." I promised her.
My mind flashed back to the bullet I had taken to the shoulder.
If something like that happens again, I'll fight through it for Y/N's sake.
If any of these men so much as breathed near her, I would annihilate them.
I won't let anyone harm my angel.
That's the end of Part 23 :)
