I didn't tell anyone about what happened. I guess I was scared.
I've never witnessed something like that before, first the man who wanted to stab me and take my belongings and then the girl who saved me but wanted to stab the man. Ugh! It felt like a dream.
Luckily today is Saturday, definitely my favorite day of the week. The best part of it all was sleep. I woke up when it was almost lunchtime, which was amazing thank you.
I wanted to forget what happened yesterday and took Bailey's laptop and started watching movies.
I was at Fast and Furious 5 when there was a knock on my door. I switched the movie off and opened the door. "James dear, aren't you hungry?" Lisa asked holding a tray full of food.
I thank her and took the food. Ah, this is just what I need. "Are you okay?" She asks placing a hand on my forehead. I nod. "Is there anything you want to talk about?" I took a bite out of the sandwich. "James, I know what's going on at your house. Of course, I could hear everything every night."
She placed a hand on my shoulder, "Where are they?" I ask her.
"Well, hopefully sorting out their problems." I smiled. "James, if something is bothering you, you can always talk to me. I'm here sweetheart."
"Thanks, Lisa, I... Can I ask you a 'what if' question?" She nods. "What if you have something that doesn't belong to you and you want to return it to the person, but don't know how?"
"What do you mean you don't know how, there's only one way you can return something that isn't yours." She lets out a sigh, "You know she's been searching for it for days."
"I know..."
"Well, I'm leaving you to it." She said pointing to the laptop. "James, you know what the right thing is to do, you just want someone else to say it to you." She said walking out of the room.
I had a Fast and Furious marathon and watched it till the 8th movie. What can I say, action is my thing.
I finally took a shower and decided that I've watched enough movies for today. My phone buzzed and I answered the call. "Jameson Bradley Brown! Why didn't you answer any of my calls?" My mom yelled in my ear.
"Oh hello mother, I'm enjoying my day thank you."
"Jameson, this isn't time for games, I thought something happened to you. I called Lisa to talk to you and ask if you're okay. What's going on?" She rushed out.
"Mom, I'm fine. Where are you?"
"I'm with the Reynolds, aunt Skyler says hi." They're not really family, but they're really good friends of my mom's.
"Oh, say hi to her too. Mom, where's dad?" I ask.
"Your dad is busy, but I love you and I have to go now. I'll call you again tomorrow and please answer."
"Bye," I said but realized she already ended the call.
I went downstairs and Bailey was watching Jack Reacher with Piper. They talked and didn't realize I was in the room. I went into the kitchen and started making dinner.
I did it for Lisa, she's been so nice to me and there is no way I could repay her. When I was done I placed the chicken into the oven and left it. I walked back into the living room, "She said it wasn't a date but who knows." Bailey said.
Piper was painting her toenails, "Why do you care all of the sudden?"
"I don't, it's just- ugh! I don't know. Why am I acting this way? Pipes, is there something wrong with me?"
"I sense a little jelly, but it's totally normal. I think."
"H-hey guys," I said sitting down on the other couch.
"Hi James," Piper greeted me. Bailey just watched the movie. "I didn't know he lives here. Why didn't you tell me?" Piper punched Bailey on the arm.
"Oh, James is staying here for another week. His parents are... somewhere." Piper nodded.
"Cool, so I must be going. Flynn invited me over for some pizza, he said there's something he needs to tell me. Bye guys." She said.
"Bye," I greeted her.
We sat there watching the movie.
"I know you have my laptop, what did you watch?" She asked not looking at me.
"F-fast and Furious." She nodded.
"And?"
"Well, I-I liked the older ones, but the newer ones were a bit disappointing. But still good. I just couldn't believe Vin Diesel for a second." Her lips lifted into a small smile.
"I'm glad you're into action."
We watched the movie until the names started rolling down. "What's in the oven?" I run to the kitchen, checking on the chicken. Luckily nothing burned. Bailey sat down on the counter.
"I didn't know you can cook." I scoffed. "I can't."
"I-I believe anyone can, they just have to learn." I now realize how close she is to me.
"Will you teach me?" She said, and I could feel her breath fanning my face. I nodded. "We can make dessert, I'm feeling chocolate cake right now."
She hopped off the counter getting some ingredients. "I-I don't have a recipe." She waves her phone. I finished the vegetables, while she starts measuring everything.
I helped her, and soon we had a chocolate cake in the oven. Well, if you minus the flour fight we had, then also the eggs and last but not least chocolate.
We were covered with food, and I felt so bad for ruining Lisa's kitchen. We cleaned the kitchen after the whole fight.
We went back into the living room and just talked, mostly about Fast and Furious.
"So you and Parker?" I ask.
"No, it was just a treat." I inwardly rolled my eyes, I mean I saw them make out. "And what about Carter?"
"N-no, it was nothing." She smirked.
"I heard your talk with your mom, I didn't know you had a middle name." My face was beet red. Did she hear everything?
"Y-yeah, but I also heard you and-"
We heard the front door opening and Lisa coming into the house.
"What's that smell?"
"Oh, man." Bailey and I both said under our breaths.
We burnt the chocolate cake.
