A tree grows old in grandma's backyard
And the neighbours have come out to see
The tree so tall bending outward
Gives shade to a small cherry tree. The tree is a weeping spectacle
For in its life it never bore fruit.
The tree now like a disaster shelter
Gives shade to the small cherry tree.Days, weeks and months went by
And the tree still bent kept aging.
Through droughts and rains still giving
Shade to the small cherry tree. The cherry tree blossomed and bore sweet fruit
And the bent coconut tree smiled
For all its life it was barren, till it gave
Shade to a small cherry tree.
