College, yes this is where Misty was going to blossom into a woman. She knew she could wear high heels, put on make-up, talk to boys and go to parties on campus on Greek row, where all the fraternities were located if she wanted to, nothing or no one could stop her now! Misty returned to the dorm room and was busy making her bed and putting her personal touches in her room, hanging posters and pictures of landscapes and whales. The door to the main area of the dorm room opened and a lovely voice called out "Hello?" Misty came out of her room and met her roommate, Lynda Chaplin, she was in the other room and they shared the common area and the small kitchen that had a fridge, small range stove top and they would be able to have food in their room if they wanted instead of ordering food or going to the dining hall. They smiled at each other and introduced themselves then Lynda handed her phone to Misty and vise verse, they put their phone numbers into each other's phone. Lynda "I love your phone! When did you get it? I thought that just came out like last week?" Misty "Oh, yeah it's pretty cool, I'm still not used to it, actually I've never had a cell phone before so when I went to the store I told the sale man that I wanted to get a phone that was reliable and at first he had given me a flip phone and I had that phone for seriously like a day and then I went back and returned that ancient flip phone and told the guy that I wanted the top of the line phone and I got this one. I still don't know what's so special about it though." Lynda smiled and then laughed "the phone in your hand can do everything that a laptop or desk top computer can do and more! It's like the best phone that money can buy." Misty blushed and said "well then we're just onto to have to learn how to use it together roomie cause I'm technically deficient in cell phones."

The girls started to laugh and it was right then that the girls knew that everything was going to be ok. Misty "When's your birthday Lynda?" Lynda "funny you should ask it is next month on the 13th, why?" "Oh, no reason I just wanted to know." Lynda "bullshit but that's ok, when is yours?" Misty laughed "it was just three days ago." The girls decided to go get Chinese for dinner, they sat on the uncomfortable sofa that was in the common area and they both said at the same time "this couch sucks! Thank god we're going to have a better one soon." Misty yelled jinx and Lynda laughed "ok, so what do I have to do?" Misty "umm... let me think" she laughed "you have to go out in the hallway in a swimsuit and run up the hall yelling that you're a frog and you need a prince!" They both laughed hysterically and Lynda changed into her swimsuit and did it. She ran up the hall yelling that she was a frog who needed her prince. Thank goodness on our floor there are only girls living there because every door opened and all the girls stepped into the hall and everyone was laughing at the spectacle that Lynda was creating. The two got along so well with each other right off the bat that they were able to be comfortable around each other and could talk so easily, an instant friendship, it felt like they had known each other for their whole lives, even though the two came from very different backgrounds. They were so well-matched to be more than just roommates and they were elated to have each other and not someone who was not going to fit with their personalities. Both Misty and Lynda knew that they couldn't deal living with anyone else, which was perfect for them.

Lynda was a slender, tall, blonde bombshell with piercing blue eyes who had a mind that was sharper than a steel trap. The two were almost inseparable from the moment they met. Misty told Lynda about the couch and table set and all the accessories that they would have needed for the kitchen and how it would be arriving in the following day. Lynda asked "well what are we going to do with the old couch?" Misty smiled, laughed and said "there actually was enough room in the common room for both couches." The girls enthusiastically wanted to discover the campus with each other. Lynda told Misty a little about her family, Lynda's mom's name was Nancy who was a house wife and her father's name is Doug and he's a lawyer in a large law firm in southern California, Newport Beach actually and that his firm was primarily catering to the wealthy and famous clients. Charlie, her brother was three years older than Lynda. Charlie was in school going for his master's degree in business management. Lynda noticed how uncomfortable Misty became when she was talking about her family. "I'm sorry if I am making you uncomfortable, talking about my family." "No, you're fine. I want to know." Misty told Lynda being completely truthful, but it was kind of hard for her to hear about a happy childhood. She wasn't one to give her loyalty and trust so quickly to someone she just met but with Lynda it was like they had known each other all of their lives.

The girls were going to go out to eat dinner and Misty asked Lynda to help her with make-up and Lynda was completely flabbergasted when Misty asked her for help. Misty did not even have the basic skills or knowledge of how to put on make-up, how to apply eyeliner, lipstick, blush, none of it. Misty was completely clueless when it came to make up and what looked good and what to do with her hair other than put it in a ponytail or just do it like she always had. She didn't know how or what to wear to class, so she wore big and baggy clothes that hid her form. She needed help to know what she could wear out in the common center were all students hung out at, she definitely didn't know how to dress for going out to parties. She had never had any kind of exposure to that kind of experience and she wanted to make sure that she was dressed right, she didn't want to give someone the wrong impression if her clothing choices were inappropriate. She wasn't sure what to do or how she would deal with someone she didn't know and they approached her to dance, to give her a drink, or even flirted with her. Lynda got Misty ready and showed her how to apply basic make-up and she helped her pick out an outfit to wear to go out to eat. "Skinny jeans, tee-shirt and a pair of sketchers. Keep it simple. That's all you need. Your skin is so beautiful and flawless that you don't really need make-up but if you're going to put anything on make sure that it's eye liner and mascara, it will make those eyes pop and everyone will want to get to know you" Lynda said.

The girls were always together unless they were in different classes, Lynda helped Misty with her wardrobe and returning of all the big bulky clothes that Misty bought to hide herself away and Lynda helped her pick out clothes that were something that someone of 18 years would wear but nothing that made Misty uncomfortable. Baggy jeans became skinny legged jeans, shirts became more form fitting, Lynda helped Misty buy her first bra and they got a few dresses and some shoes for Misty, high-heels, low-heels, tennis shoes and flip-flops. Lynda was helping Misty build herself into an individual and Misty loved her for that. She was more like a sister than a roommate as far as Misty was concerned but yet she still held back a little, she didn't know when the other shoe would drop. She'd seen it in high school, girls would be nice to someone for a while and then for some reason that never made any sense to her they became bitter enemies spreading wild rumors about each other around the school. Someone always got hurt and she was scared to open herself up to someone to let them in that close but with Lynda she got the feeling that she would never have to worry about her turning on her and hurting her but still she was cautious.

The girls walked over to this little taco stand and were eating and talking about what classes they had and what they want to do once their done at college. The two girls pretty as can be sitting and eating tacos outside at the tables laughing and joking around. Lynda threw a piece of a tomato at Misty and she dodged it and then there was an all-out food fit about to start when there was this big commotion that came up from behind them. The girls looked up and saw that there were about fifteen guys walking towards a house down the Greek Row and they were singing and acting like idiots. Both of the girls laughed and then out of nowhere, the guys stopped and yelled out, "Hey you two should come to the party, it's on the Row. Just find the house with the loudest music!" The girls laughed and said "Ok, thanks!" Misty and Lynda looked at each other and both of them knew that they were going to go to the house party. Lynda said to Misty "You ready roomie?" Misty nodded and off they went.
