Chapter 25

Misty then remembered that she had plans with Liam tonight. She started to get excited about what they might be doing, when her phone rang. "Hello?" she said. "Ms. Rhodes, this is Officer Smalls, I just wanted to let you know what we have found out so far about the box that was left at your home. First, there were some very good prints that we were able to lift from the tape that was used to seal the box and we know that Mr. Urchin was the one who sealed the box and the video surveillance from your home camera shows him walking up to the house and putting the box at your front door. As for what was in the box I am not sure if you really want to know but" Misty interrupts Officer Smalls, "Yes, I would like to know what that sick bastard put in the box for me to find!" Officer Smalls says "Mr. Urchin is obviously a very disturbed individual Ms. Rhodes. Unfortunately, he had packed parts of dead animals in the box along with a note. The note was brief but stated that "this is one of many gifts to come" and he signed it." Misty cringed in horror and was now enormously worried more now than ever before about her safety. "Now we have an all-points bulletin out for Mr. Urchin and we have your house under surveillance, in case he returns. I do not believe it would be wise for you, Ms. Rhodes to go anywhere alone until we have picked him up" stated Officer Smalls. Misty gasped, "I knew he was unstable but are you kidding me. Dead animals! And more to come. Oh, hell no I won't be alone until you get this lunatic is in your custody. Thank you for calling and letting me know Officer Smalls, I really do appreciate it." Misty gets off the phone and starts to shake, "he really is fucking crazy and now he's after me!" 

 Misty called the contractor that she was using for the panic room and told him that it was an emergency and that she needed them to begin work immediately. "I don't care if I have to pay you triple the original amount, some lunatic is after me and I have to be safe in my home. When can you and your crew get here?" The contractor said that they would be right over and that she should probably get together of list of things she wants in the room and how she wants to disguise it so it's not noticeable. She told him I want the best that there is and I don't care what it costs, I'm ordering a bed and food stuffs and water, is there anything else that I should get?" The contractor told her that she might want to get a plumber out so that she can have a bathroom installed and the phone company so that a line can be installed that cannot be severed from the outside of the house. She said "that's fine, I'm home now. If you could please come now that would help me calm down and I would really appreciate it." The contractor said that they would be there in the next 15-30 minutes. She got on the phone with the phone company and requested that she get a line that cannot be severed from the outside of the house, the phone company actually told her that if she has a cell phone with Wi-Fi on it that she should be able to use that inside a panic room. Next, she called a survival magazine and ordered a queen-sized bed, 4 months' worth of food and drinking water and they were to be delivered the following day. She called a plumber and had them come out to see about setting up a bathroom in the panic room, the plumber and the contractor showed up at the same time. They found an area in the home that was easily accessible to her and began to draw up the schematics. It wasn't going to be some extravagant room but it would be comfortable. She had the bathroom, modest, shower, toilet and sink. A small bedroom that quite literally could fit the bed and not much more could go in there and then a small front room had a small love seat with video screens and a telephone that worked of the Wi-Fi and then her food and water provisions. All of this was hidden behind the library wall, she would just need to move the bookcase by pulling off a certain book spine and entering in a code then replacing the spine cover and then she would be locked in there until she wanted to come out.

After she has all of this taken care of she gets on her computer and immediately gets on Skype to talk to Lynda. Misty begins to tell her about the craziness that has been going on, about how scared she is now and how worried that this freaks bullshit isn't done and over with yet. She told Lynda that she just can't believe that this is happening to her, she's never been mean to a single soul in her life and now she has nothing but pure hell on here tail. Lynda tells Misty to have Charlie take her wherever she needs to go that he will protect her and he will keep her safe. Misty knew this already but it was really comforting to hear her BFF say it. Misty told Lynda about the panic room being built as they spoke and that lifted Lynda's worry a little. Misty got off line to get ready for her date with Liam but she was actually thinking about cancelling the date because of all the bizarre shit that's been happening lately in her life. But she thought that maybe going out would be better for her to get her mind off the shit and decides that she needs to keep living her life like before, to not let this crisis create complete and utter deviation and turmoil in her life, she had to do something to take her mind off the lunatic that is trying to get to her, to hurt her, to break her.
