Misty settled into the life style and got to know the area around her homes and exploring places that she could go to eat, movie theater, clubs and shopping. She figured that she wasn't in a rush to work, it wasn't like she needed the money but after about two months she started to look for work. She was bored and she needed to do something to do. She went to collage so she might as well put that to use. She started working for a temp agency and would work at places maybe a few weeks or months at a time but nothing really serious. She had worked very briefly at another data entry company and they were not a good fit, she wasn't happy, when she walked into the building it was like everyone there was death warmed over and there was such discontent within the employees and the manager level was nothing but disgruntled. Then one day she was sent on assignment to the Mannford company for data entry, she was hired after her third month of working there and it was the best thing she ever could have done. Misty loves her job with Mannford's company, she had now been with the company for three years now and it has been the best data entry job that she has ever worked. Information, it was just her passion, the computer, numbers and her music playing in her ears to keep her upbeat and happy. Lynda called Misty a complete dork and made fun of her for wanting to stare at a computer screen for eight hours a day when she didn't need to work at all, Misty said "you have your passion and I have mine" then she stuck her tongue out at her and they laughed together as they always have.
Lynda was an artist, she was outside most of the time and always traveling too. Lyndia would usually send Misty some of the most beautiful pictures she took and Misty would use them as her wallpaper on her computer, especially when Lynda wasn't in town. Misty normally went out with Lynda on Tuesday and Friday's and go to a local club or dinner and talk about their lives and what they wanted to do. Which was quite funny because they spoke to each other daily either on the phone or via text. Misty tried to live vicariously through Lynda, all the stories that she had about her relationships with men and sex, how it felt, how it made her feel, what she liked and she didn't and what she would let someone do to her and vise verse. There really was no one else that she felt comfortable enough to talk to about this stuff other than Lynda. Lynda told her to watch some porno's so that when she finally stops being a fucking nun she'll know what to do to make a man happy, quiver and lose his mind just by the things that you can do. Lynda told her to go online and watch a few, "you need to know the basics at least girl!" Misty's face would usually end up crimson red and with her in need of a drink. They have always had a great time together, laughing and contemplating their possible futures. Lynda wasn't about her work being seen in museums or selling at higher prices than they had before. Lynda wanted to live life to the fullest extent that she possibly could. And she did, Lynda made the most of it all the time. Misty said that she would like to find Mr. Right and get settled and have a wonderful family life. Lynda looked at Misty and said "I don't get it, you already met him! You're just chicken" and she made her arms flap like a chicken and said "Bawk, Bawk, Bawk." Misty laughed at her friend's crazy behavior and loved her even more for it. That is why Misty was so saddened when Lynda told her that she was going on another adventure and that she was going to Japan for the next two months to explore as much of it as she possible could. To put it mildly Misty was going to miss her terribly, but they would skype or call each other a lot and whenever possible.
Misty called Lynda to come over to her house and Lynda laughed and said "which one?" Misty laughed "the house, not the beach house, silly!" Lynda was there in just a few minutes, she didn't realize that Misty's house was so close to hers. Lynda was given the grand tour of the home and the girls sat on the couch drinking wine and talking about how the trip was going to affect each other. Lynda was excited to go on the trip and having the opportunity to take pictures in Japan was something that she just couldn't pass up. Misty told Lynda that she was going to miss her so much and that she didn't know what she was going to do without her there to keep her going out and be social. They both laughed, Misty was such a homebody workaholic that really the only time she got out was if Lynda brought her out or she when she went to see Charlie at "Bottom's Up." The girls held onto each other like they were never going to see each other again, both being such the drama queens that only they could be. The following morning at about 8:30 Lynda was packed and ready to go to the airport. Misty and Charlie were going to take her so that they could wish her a safe trip and to remind her to call when she got there, they reminded her to keep a hold of her travel visa. Lynda checked in two large bags with purple curled ribbon in two places on both bags. Charlie put the bags on the platform for Lynda to have the curbside check-in and the bags were checked in and so was Lynda for her flight. She gave both Charlie and Misty a hug, kissed them both on the cheek and said "I'll call the second I land ok guys, I swear." Misty and Lynda did their pinky swear just like they had done in college and they began to laugh really hard and then they hugged each other again.
Lynda had to go to make sure that she could get through security and to the find the correct terminal that she needed to be at for her flight. She blew them both a kiss and started to kind of skip towards that area and she looked back again and they were still there, Charlie holding Misty hand while she was removing a tear from face. They waved and she did the same and then she was gone from view. Misty turned into Charlie's chest and began to cry, "this is the longest time she going to be gone for Charlie!" "What in the hell am I supposed to do?" He chuckled and said that she has work and she could visit the bar and he is always going to be there for her. He wrapped his arms around her and shushed her and told her it was all going to be ok, that Lynda will call and Charlie is going to try to make the two months fly by without her noticing. Misty tightened her hold on him and just burrowed into his chest and then just like that she was done. She wiped her face clean and stood up tall. Charlie and Misty walked back to the truck and he let her in and then came around the truck and hopped into the cab. He said "ok "Eggies", how does that sound?" She smiled up at him and said "perfect." He drove them over and they ate breakfast and then he spent the rest of the day with her at the beach house. The two rode bikes on the boardwalk and got ice cream cones and went to the end of the pier and watched as the other people fished off the pier and watch the dolphins that were out there, far away from the pier in the open ocean.
It really was a good Sunday, Charlie drove back to Misty's place in Newport Beach and she made diner for them. She put two steaks on the built-in grill on the patio and went inside, she cut up some potatoes and wrapped it them in tin foil, she added salt, pepper and butter then she closed the foil wrap. Then she grabbed broccoli and add salt pepper and a tiny amount of butter and wrapped that up also. She walked out to the grill and put both the wrapped items on the grill. She grabbed two beers and came out and sat down giving Charlie the other beer and they were just waiting until it was time to flip the steaks. Misty had cheese grated and she carefully opened the broccoli foil wrap and added the cheese to the top of the broccoli and re-wrapped the package. They sat back and talked until the food was ready. He had gone inside and grabbed two plates, forks and steak knives and walked back out just as she was pulling the steaks off the grill along with the packets. The steaks went onto individual plates and the packets were split between the two of them perfectly.
They ate dinner on the patio and chatted for a while and then Charlie said that he needed to get going but that he had a blast with her and if she needed him to call, he was just a few minutes away, literally. They hugged and kissed each other on the cheek, there was a hesitation and then he smiled at her "Night, Mist. Sleep well honey." She cleaned up from dinner and then took a shower and laid down on her bed and turned on the 50 inch tv to the discovery channel and then she must have fallen asleep while watching tv. So, at 3:00 am Misty's cell phone begins to ring. She couldn't think who would be calling at this time of night. She answered the phone and sounded like she was still asleep, she realized that it was the call from Lynda, she was letting her know that she arrived safely in Japan. Misty was happy that Lynda had arrived and was good. Lynda said that it was a good flight, she had flown in first class for more comfort on the trip especially how long it was. The total flight time was around 15 hours or so. She had one of those seats that she could lay down in and pull a lid closed so that she wasn't disturbed while they were flying. She said the food was ok, the drinks were good and that it was really easy to sleep on the plane with the new seats that the airline had put in. There was a movie that she could watch in her own little pod and it was actually really nice not to have to deal with other people on the flight coughing and sneezing all over her. The only bad thing that about getting that call at 3:00 am was that it was hard, if not impossible for Misty to fall back asleep. That was just the kind of person she was, that once she's up, she's up for the day. So, she tried and tried to fall back asleep and that was not happening, she tossed and turned for about an hour and decided that she couldn't get back to sleep. The problem with that is today is an important day for the company. The newly hired managers are supposed to start watching over the operation and get a feel for how the company worked. This literally couldn't have been a worse way to start the day, for her to begin a working relationship with new management and she was dead tired. When she was tired she was clipped and to the point and had no patience for anyone or anything. "Fucking great I'm going to be in a horrible mood all freaking day" she said out loud as she walked down the hallway to the kitchen.
