I get up out of bed gently trying not to wake Lexi up.  I grab my clothes and get dressed.  I head out to the kitchen and grab a drink.  I sit down on the couch and flip on the TV.  I put my feet up and watch for a bit while I wait for Lexi to get up.  After about an hour she comes out of the bedroom in her pajamas.

"Good morning bubbles" I say cheerily. She gives me a dead look then yawns and plops down on couch next to me.  She stretches out and lats her head on her lap.  "How did you sleep?" I say.  "Good.". She says through a yawn.  "I can tell". I laugh and run my hand through her hair.  I flip to the news and we watch it for a bit.  A breaking news banner flashes on the screen and a dark haired anchorwoman begins to speak.

"The BU Butcher strikes again, with the apparent kidnapping of thirty-one year old Brian Baker, who is believed to have been taken by the notorious BU Butcher because of the manner in which he went missing.  Unfortunately, the field employee of the internet based company Net Co, may just be the newest in a horrific string of serial killings to happen in the BU area in recent years."  I quickly flick the TV off and sit up right "Lexi!   You killed Brian!?!"

I look at her with my mouth gaping open in surprise. "Well, he was kinda mean to you at work sometimes, I noticed he was always teasing you."

"Me and Brian we're always teasing each other!  We were friends!"

"Well I didn't know that!  I just saw him bothering you!"

"Brian was hilarious!  I loved Brian!  I can't believe you killed him!"

"Well, actually, I haven't killed him yet."

"Good!  Then release him, he is a cool guy, he doesn't deserve that.  He probably won't even stay around here after this.  Ugh!"

"Um, release him, well, ok, I could, you I guess." Her voice trailed off and we sat in silence for a while.  Then she spoke up.  "Ok, so, quick question."  "Yeah?"  I say back.  "Would you like Brian as much even if he didn't have a tongue?"  She asks sweetly. My mouth hangs open.  "Or eyes."  "Wha...I...ew!!  Lexi!  Ew!". I shout, and I fall back on to the couch, gagging, thinking of my friend missing valuable body parts.

"I'm sorry baby.  I didn't know you liked him."  She leans on me.  "I'm going to go on a run, wanna come?"  She says unmoved, she is immune to feeling to pain and sorrow from death anymore. She looks at me, her big greenish-blue eyes staring up at me.  She notices the pain and disgust on my face... And for the the first time in a since that night in the police station, her eyes start to well up with tears.

"I am so sorry Luke.  You've been so amazing to me.  I just didn't know.  I didn't mean to hurt you!  I swear!  It won't happen again, I'm so sorry."  She grabs my shirt and cries into my arm.  She somehow made me feel bad for being mad at her for killing my friend.

I chuckle.  I kiss her head and rub her back.  "Come on baby, let's go for a run."  I say, still a little shaken by the death of my friend.  "Really?". She lifts her head from my arm and wipes a tear from her eye, she gives me a half smile.

"Yes really, and you better hurry up and get ready, because today is the day I beat you home!"  I laugh and hug her to my body.  I hear her small voice say "Not a chance." And  we both laugh together.
