I head down Elm Street towards Stanley's place, I need to get to Jacob's, but I had to stop by Stanley's for some help first. I pull up to the building and rush in. I run up the stairs and look around, no sign of Stanley. "Hey Stanley! I'm walking on your floor with my filthy blood stained shoes!" I say waiting for the inevitable response. Stanley drops down from a hole in the roof and lands less than a foot from me "Get off!". He roars.
"Stan...chill." I say with newfound confidence. He rambles on for a few minutes and I patronize him and listen. "Stan, I need to show you something!". I say interrupting him. "If it isn't what I asked for than you have no right to be here!" He lunges at me! "Do you know how much it costs to get this high!? And I'm wasting it on you!" He growls. I laugh and step out of the way, he face plants into the wall. "You are really going to want to see this.". I give him a serious look. "Fine! Just get off my floor I'll be down in a sec."
I he meets me down by the car, he is dressed in some unusually small jeans, a t-shirt, hoodie, and a snap-back. "Wow Stan! Look at you! You don't look like as much of a pint sized shot of Daddy issues as you usually do." He looks at me with his squinted eyes, obviously not amused with my joke. "Shut up kid, what did I HAVE to see this early in the morning?" He says. "Stan it's eleven-thirty at night." I inform him. "Well great! Now I get to pay a late fee on my videos!" He grumbles "Videos Stan?" I laugh and give him a sideways look. "Listen, I don't care what anyone says Frozen was one of the best Disney movies of all time." He says. I look at him awkwardly, but seeing he is serious I don't say anything and we sit in silence for a few seconds.
"So what did you bring me down here for kid." He says. I walk around my car and pop the trunk, motioning for Stanley to look inside. "Please tell me that isn't what I think it is." He takes a deep breath and rubs his temples. "Yep." I say. "Why? Just why?!" "I didn't have a choice!" I say, lying. "Why in this shape?!" He asks. I shrug my shoulders. "He fought back." He sighs and grabs the detectives legs. "Help me get him inside." He says sternly. I grab Read underneath his arms and we carry him inside.
Stanley complains all the way up the stairs. "Do you know how much trouble this is going to cause for everyone around here?! It couldn't just be an officer. It had to be the king pig! Amateur, didn't even kill him! Now he's just missing! They're gonna look extra hard. Now I gotta hide him, because I don't kill. Lots of problems for lots of people just because the BU Butcher's boyfriend couldn't kill one lousy cop, like what even are you? You can beat him to a pulp but you can't kill him! That's just hypocritical." "Stan." I stop him. "Can you help me clean this up or not?" "Oh don't start talking like a professional now kid! But yes...I've got a place we can hide him and keep him quiet."
We finish packing Read into Stanley's back room and and walk out into the main area. "He was really heavy, was it really necessary for you to make me take my shoes off?". I say irritated. "Yes, just because captain hook back their ate one to many doughnuts doesn't give you an excuse to mess up my perfect living area." Stanley says.
"Ok, I'll be back in a few hours with your information, hopefully." I say. "Good, I still got nothing on our guy, but I'll keep in touch. In fact." He hands me a small radio phone. "Stan I do have a phone." I laugh. "I know, but I don't, and besides, walkie talkies are cool!". He says in an almost childish voice. He looks at me and gives me a smile that's almost...cute. Ew. I smile at him and tuck the radio in my pocket. "Thanks for everything Stanley."
