I race up the walkway to our apartment complex and laughing to myself. I pull the keys to the door from my pocket and quickly shove the correct key in the lock. I jump into the living room. "Aha!! I win!". I shout.
Just as I'm finishing up my victory dance my girlfriend steps out from our bedroom, gently wrapping her hair in a towel. She is freshly changed, showered' and she has the smuggest grin on her face. "What took you so long handsome?" She said grinning bigger."But, I...I made sure the door was locked! I was gonna win this time!" I said whining. She giggles and presses herself against me, wrapping her arms around my neck. "Yeah, about that, we need to have a talk you cheater!" She squints at me and hits my chest lightly. I laugh and shrug. "I just came in the window." She pulls me onto the couch and gives me a kiss.
"It was unlocked?" I say. "Yeah..what are you afraid that some sort of crazy killer could have gotten in?" She lays back and shoots me a wink and a smile. I look at her sprawled out on the couch, he r beautiful eyes staring up at me as i trace her gentle curves with my eyes. I laugh. "You know, you are so lucky you are so gorgeous, otherwise I might have to reconsider staying with a creep like you." I stick my tongue out and give her a teasing look.
Her eyes focus on mine and she sits up slowly, pressing herself against me and moving in so our lips are almost touching. She reaches her arms around my back resting them there. I look deeply into her eyes until she slowly brings her mouth to my ear and whispers "Then it's a good thing I am isn't it?" She ends sharply and bites the bottom of my ear firmly, digging her nails into my back. Just then there is a knock on the door. Of course there is.
She chuckles and lets go of me, she gives me a quick kiss and lays back on the couch, breathing shallow. I stand up and start to walk to the door. "You don't move." I say in a stern voice. "I'll be right back." I give her another wink and she giggles and blushes, squirming into the couch.
I walk to the door and open the door. A short, brown haired man stands in front of me, his eyes are dark and it looks like he hasn't slept in days. It was clear that he held some sort of authority and he seemed to be trying to get a look inside our apartment. I put my arm on the left side of the door frame, blocking his view and then greeted him with "Can I help you sir?"
"Hello sir, I am Detective Read Johnson from the Berkley Police Department, and unfortunately I'm here on business sir." A cold chill goes down my spine, why would the BPD be here? I glance at Lexi laying on the couch she is hugging a pillow and staring at me curiously. I quickly looked back at the detective and see that he had seen where I was looking. He smirked. I hated him already.
I stand firmly in the door, forgetting my worry. Now, running on my hate of this man's ego, I give him a look that told him he wasn't getting through this door without a good reason. "Is there a Miss Annell her? I have a few questions for her." He says cheerily. I wanted to deck this guy, but I knew that wouldn't help anything.
I look back at Lexi and gave her a worried look. She gives me a sober look and nods for me to let him in. I look back at the detective and reluctantly lowered my arm. He goes to step into the apartment and I block him, placing my hand on his chest."You have ten minutes." I say more aggressively than I should have. "We have somewhere to go." I say still half talking half growling. "I'll only need five." He says smugly, gliding past me. For the first time ever, Lexi had my permission to kill someone.
