I wake up in a hospital bed, surrounded by beeping noises. I sit up and relize I am hooked up to an I.V. drip. I can't tell what's in it but it is on a slow drip cycle and there was one on the other side of me as well.
The one on my other side isn't hooked up to me, and it is filled with blood. I strain my neck to try and look past it, but just then my whole body starts to hurt. My legs all the way up to my neck are all extremely sore.
I lie back in my bed defeated. Then my mind shifts to thoughts of Lexi. I lose all awareness of my pain and bolt up. I pull the I.V. out of my arm and rush lean around the I.V. Laying on the bed next to me is Lexi!
I half jump, half fall out of bed and wobble over to her. I lean on her bed. I caress her face with my hand, and look down to her forearms. They ware bandage. I look up to the blinking monitors attached to her and try to make sense of it all, but my head is still hazy."Sir, please get back into bed, you haven't completely recovered yet." I can't see who had said that, and I wasn't pulling my eyes away from her face for even a second, but I could reconise that the voice was female. I panic when I am grabbed from behind, but the hands are gentle, and they guid me back into bed.
I see the female nurse standing above me and a doctor enters the room. "Hello Mr. Morrison, my name is doctor Rossinger and I have been taking care of you and Mrs. Annell since last night. You two had quite the tramatic experience, and you both need plenty of rest to recover." The doctor says. I open my mouth to ask how she knew our names, but she must have known what I was going to ask. "We located both your files this morning, even with the small amount of information we had to do on." I look up to my I.V. drip and immediately she responds. "It's just fluids, you were dehydrated and exhausted when you came in, and Mrs. Annell just needs a little more blood."
I look over at Lexi, I frown. The doctor sees my gaze and reassures me. "Hey... she'll be ok. With a little more blood she should make a full recovery." She gives me a sincere smile that puts me at ease. I lay back in the bed while the nurse reattaches my I.V. I start to lose focus, losing myself in thoughts of Lexianne, drifting to sleep.
I wake up again, I look at my surroundings. No I.V. there is a nurse next to me leaning over Lexianne, chatting eagerly. I sit up and stretch, my body felt much better, the soreness was almost completely gone.
I slowly got out of bed, nearly scaring the nurse to death. "Sir you really shouldn't be..." She stopped, and gave me a smile. "Go ahead, but don't bug her too much! She has to rest." She shuffles quietly out of the room.
I look down at Lexi, her face is still pale, and she was still hooked up to a blood bag, but she was smiling at me, and there was a warmness in her cheeks that let me know she was getting better.
"How ya doing champ?" She says weakly. "The doctors told me everything, what is it from home to here twenty blocks? That's impressive babe." She smiles her eyes bat and I can tell she is sleepy. "Lexianne...shut up." She looks at me stunned and upset.I lean in and kiss her deeply, I run my hand through her hair and gently lift her chin so our lips press closer together. Her lips are still cold but she kisses back. I pull away and smile at her. "Get some rest princess."
I turn to walk away from her, but she grabs my hand to stop me, her grip is weak but she tugs at me to stay. "Luke...thank you." She says sleepily. "We are in this together princess, till the end." I smile over my shoulder at her. She let's go of my hand and grins. She closes her eyes and falls asleep. I walk back to my bed, and get ready to enjoy some much needed hospital food.
