It was now that I realized it may have been a bad idea to give the clearly unstable Stanley anyway to communicate with me. I wake up to sound of crackling. I notice the noise is coming from the radio Stanley gave me. I groan and role over, glancing at my radio. 3:28. Ugh.
"... Little...swer the walkie..." I hear Stanley's voice from the radio, the static makes it hard to make out most of what he says. I sit up and search for my pants on the floor. I grab the radio out of their back pocket and press the button. "Hey Stan, what's up?"
I rub my eyes, still not fully awake and wait for Stanley's reply. The radio crackles to life. "Little Mama, Little Mama, come in". I groan. "Stan, I'm not using the code names." I say sleepily. "How can I be sure this is you if you don't use the code names Little Mama." I lay back in bed and sigh.
"This is Little Mama, come in..." I hesitate. "Come in Big Papa, do you read me Big Papa. " I hear Stanley laughing as he begins to speak. "Oh that is so satisfying." He says. "You are a creep, you know that?" I ask him. He ignores me and I speak again. "What do you need Stanley?" Silence.
I sigh again. "What do you need...Big Papa." I say reluctantly. "Ok Little Mama, I was just wondering, you happen to have any sugar lying around?" I squint my eyes in the dark. "What did you just say?" I say irritated. No response. I growl. "Big Papa"
"You see..." He responds. "I've been thinking, I need to be more productive in my life, especially if I am going to help you with bailing Lexi out. So I've decided to eliminate sleep from my life. I mean, if you really think about it, it is kinda just a waste of time. Why do we need it? So I'm just not gonna sleep anymore."
My tired brain strains to make sense of Stan's words, with no avail. "So I'm making myself some coffee, and I need some sugar. Do you have any?" He asks eagerly. "Goodnight Stanley"
