The year was 1989, February, and the members of Mötley Crüe were still recording their new album, which was titled "Dr. Feelgood". The plan was for it to be released in September. Tommy was recording the drums for "Slice of Your Pie", and Nikki was only sitting there watching like the two others. The only difference was that he was kind of enjoying the moment, watching the sweat run down Tommy's bare chest. Nikki couldn't resist leaning forward on his chair. Tommy shook his head, making his long, brown hair fall down behind his strong shoulders. Nikki followed the every move of the tall drummer, almost not noticing that Vince was suspecting something. He turned around quickly, giving Vince a questioning look. "What?", he asked, pretending to be confused, and that nothing had ever happened. "Nothing...", Vince replied, kind of rolling his eyes.
Mötley Crüe was doing one more concert before releasing Dr. Feelgood, and that was in Vegas. Since they were only going to be there for a couple of days, they were staying at a hotel, and Nikki was a little worried that Duff might appear, fearing that Tommy might leave him. Especially since Duff lived in Vegas, Nikki actually had a decent reason to be nervous. The scariest part was that they were staying at the same hotel that Nikki had met Duff on earlier, "The Venetian".
They were standing in the lobby, waiting in a very long line to check into the hotel. Tommy looked down at Nikki. "What?", Nikki asked confusedly, looking up at Tommy. "Nothing", Tommy smiled, "You're so cute". Nikki quickly looked around, first at Vince and Mick, who were standing in front of them in the long line of people. "Shh!", he whispered, kind of embarrassed, "Someone might hear you". Tommy only laughed. "So what? Aren't we together?", he asked, "Why keep it a secret?" It had been quite some time since Nikki came home from Vegas and they kissed, and they still hadn't discussed this yet. Nikki blushed, looking up at Tommy with big eyes. "We're... together? Like... a couple..?", he asked hesitantly. "Yeah... I mean, only if you want to", Tommy went on, making Nikki smile shyly. "Do you want to?", he asked back. Tommy nodded. "Yeah" "Then I do too". Even though Nikki liked Tommy – he really did – he still wanted to keep it a secret, in fear of what people might think of them. Tommy didn't care though; he was proud to be with a guy like Nikki. He pulled Nikki in for a hug, holding him tight. Nikki quickly grew really uncomfortable, not about Tommy, but about all the other people in there staring at them – or at least Nikki thought they were staring. "Tommy... Tommy", Nikki whispered, trying weakly to push Tommy away. "Yeah?", Tommy replied, a little confused. "People are staring", Nikki went on, still kind of whispering. Tommy let go of Nikki. "So? I thought you didn't care?", he asked, somewhat mad at him for thinking like that. Nikki looked down at the floor in shame. "A little...", he whimpered. Tommy grabbed Nikki's chin, forcing him to look at him. "Why? You're not embarrassed to be with me, are you? Because if you are, I don't think I want this, Nikki", Tommy said strictly, thinking that it was all a waste if Nikki was embarrassed to be with him. Nikki was seconds away from crying, and Tommy saw that, only this time he wouldn't care. "I'm not", Nikki mumbled. Tommy heard in Nikki's voice that the tears would soon run down his pretty face. "I love you... But I'm afraid of what people might think of us...", Nikki went on. Tommy let go of Nikki's face, and grabbed his hand instead. "Don't you worry about that", he comforted, "I'll beat down anyone who picks on you, alright?" Nikki giggled; somehow he had forgotten about all the people in the room. Some of them actually were looking.
