Eight.
Friends with benefits maybe? That’s the closest thing I can come up with to describe Louis and I. Although I am not really benefited as most people would think if I used the term, being with Louis does have its positives.
I got up an extra hour today so I could lie in bed and stare at my ceiling. I don’t know why I always do this, but it is relaxing. I dislike school with a burning passion, especially science. Social Studies is my best subject, though I wish it was English.
I eventually move my eyes form the ceiling and climb out of my bed, wishing I would allow myself to climb back in and sleep forever. I put on the outfit that I laid out yesterday over my bra and panties, then brush through my hair and pin back my bangs. I go through all my makeup necessities then climb back in to bed to sleep some more so when I have to wake up, I’ll already be ready.
I feel myself slowly drifting in to sleep when the doorbell rings. My eyes shoot open and I angrily climb out of bed and grab my backpack. I don’t have to leave for another hour. I clomp down the stairs and fling open the front door when I get to it. Louis smiles and waves when he sees me frowning back at him.
“Good morning” He grins.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I lean against the door.
“I’m here to take you to school.”
“Why so early?”
“Aha, you’re going to love this. My mum was yelling at me for doing nothing with my life yesterday, so I asked her what I should do and she said to take a class because I am losing brain cells” He beams.
“Great” I say sarcastically. Even though I am excited that Louis will be taking classes at my school, I am also very nervous. I am not good around guys, even more so in front of other people, and I can’t have Louis making me noticeable. I like to stay hidden.
“Let’s go then!” Louis reaches in the door and grabs my hand and drags me out of my house and to his car. I stumble along beside him, still a daze about what’s happening.
He opens the car door for me, practically bouncing up and down in excitement. Why would he choose to take another year of school rather than do something else? Louis gets in his side of the car and quickly backs out of my driveway, his braking and accelerating making me lurch back and fourth.
“What classes are you taking?” I ask.
“The normal senior classes”
“Why would you decide to come back to school?”
“As Albert Einstein once said; ‘Knowledge’” Louis points his index finger to the air and squints his eyes.
“Wow okay” I furrow my eyebrows.
We sit in silence the rest of the way to school, and when we arrive there are only a few cars in the parking lot. Louis parks towards the back and comes around to my side and opens my door for me like always and I climb out on to the pavement. Louis and I walk up to the school and enter the building, then walk in to the principal’s office to get his schedule. I am stiff surprised Louis is joining the school.
Once Louis has his schedule, we walk to our first class together. We are still about twenty minutes early, so we take the longest route to our English class so I can show him around. I don’t know if I am happy or not that Louis is joining my school, but I’m going to try to go about my normal routine.
Louis and walk in to our first class; English and take a seat towards the back with Louis on my right. The teacher isn’t in the room, so I pull my English book that we have to read the first semester. I begin reading the book, and see Louis put his feet up on the desk beside me. I set the book down and turns towards him.
