Twenty-Seven
Louis and I decided we were going to go shopping for Halloween costumes two days from now when the Halloween store is on its sale, so for now I am sat up in my bedroom watching re runs of Family Guy on my computer.
I am just about to fall asleep when I hear shouting from next door, and a car door slamming. I try to ignore it and close my eyes again, but I am disturbed again when my phone rings. I reach across to my night table and pick up my mobile. I answer the phone and hold it up to my ear.
“Hello?” I ask.
“Addie, Louis is babysitting me and my siblings while mum and dad and the babies are out and I didn’t know he was coming and he- can you just come over and calm him down please” Lottie says from the other line, sniffling.
“Of course” I say and hang up, my mind spinning.
As I change out of my pajamas and into some regular clothes I can’t help but wonder what happened. I begin to link the phone call with the shouting I heard only moments earlier as I run down the stairs and out the side door to the house next door.
When I get to the front door, I decide not to ring the doorbell and to just walk in, anxious to see what is happening.
As soon as I step in the door, I am greeted by Lottie running to me and hugging me. Not expecting the sudden emotion from the teenage girl who I am barely spoken with, it takes me a few moments before I gather my thoughts and hold her out so I can examine her. Her eyes are watery and her cheeks are stained red from the streaks of tears.
“What happened?” I ask, brushing the hair out of her face.
“My boyfriend was over and we were up in my room and Louis walked in and we-“ Lottie sniffles.
“I can piece together the rest” I say and hug her. “Where is he?”
“In his room.”
“I’ll go talk to him” I promise her and she nods.
I brush my hair out of my face as I climb the stairs, my head racing. Only moments ago I was happily watching a TV show in my room, and now I am about to talk to my very angry boyfriend when I am no help in calming people down what so ever. I don’t know what Louis was so mad about anyway; plenty of girls are… experimenting at Lottie’s age. I could see where he was coming from though, seeing as that was his little sister.
When I reach Louis’s bedroom, I don’t bother knocking and just walk in to the room.
Louis is pacing the length of the room, running his fingers through his hair. I am happy to see nothing is broken, although his closet door is off its hinges. I really hope he didn’t rip it off.
His room is empty besides a couple of chairs I assume his mom is storing in the now unoccupied room.
“Leave me alone Lottie” Louis breathes with his back facing me.
“It’s not Lottie” I say and walk towards him so I can practically feel the anger radiating off his body.
Louis turns around when he hears my voice and walks closer to me. His hair is sticking up in every which way, and the muscles in his arms are larger than usual. His eyes are more of a darker shade, not that usual happy blue they are.
“What are you doing here?” Louis tries to calm his voice.
“I am here to calm you down.”
“I am calm.”
I raise my eyebrows and Louis takes a seat on one of the random chairs in the room.
“He was on top of her” Louis sighs. “Naked.”
