Chapter 29 The Week Drags On

The next morning at the crack of dawn four children emerged through the woods to the opening of the village being led by none-other than Lady Xandria. Pack on her back the sun just clearing the treetops though they be very short at this altitude, scrubby if that; with a few taller. She stopped at the fountain where there was a seat all the way around it gathering the children in a circle as she sat down upon the seat. She handed out their breakfast which consisted of fiber nut bars with fruit and assorted drinks depending on their species.

When they had their breakfast finished she collected all the waste and deposited it back inside her pack then proceeded to instruct them on today's test. The whole village had been redone since the day before, but with no live people in it. They were to go in search of the one building on the furthest end of the village filled with the enemy and disable it anyway they felt they had to. Then report back here with the one flag that was inside in the center of it.

Lady Xandria gave Gaia the little witch the map, headed them all in the right direction and sat back to wait for their return. This was just the first of four test for the day they had planned for them. It wasn't more that thirty minutes later before she heard a loud “BOOM” then saw a flash of fire shoot up into the sky. Tempted to run into the village after the children Lady Xandria waited on pins and needles for their return. Sure enough they came down the road not twenty minutes later carrying the red flag in their little hands waving it proudly.

When they returned to where she sat at the fountain she asked them pointedly. “What in the world was that loud noise and flash of fire I saw in the air a while ago? I almost ran in to see if you four were OK or not. You scared the life out of me!” Lady Xandria all but grabbed them up into a hug.

“Oh that was Bavo he decided to blast his way into the building then on the way out he blew it up.” Valia explained.

“Sorry, but I wanted to try to see if I could do it. I didn't tink that blding would bwoo up and disappunpar like that.” He replied ducking his head back down as if in shame for what he did to the building. His pronunciation of words was so cute how could she get mad at him.

“So you blew up the whole building and there is nothing left? It is gone is that correct?” Lady Xandria asked. He nodded his little head in agreement. “How did you do that? Was it a spell or something?” she asked the little guy.

“Well I was looking back over my shoulder as we were all leaving and just thought how neat it would be to see that blding just bwoo up in fames, and it did. I was just looking at it really hard, and it bwood up and there was a lot of fire.” Little Bavo was sounding excited explaining it to her. “It was so big we wan all the way back here. Are we in twoble Lady Xandria?” He asked now that he realized what he did might be the wrong thing to have done.

“No Bavo you didn't do anything wrong we are here to see just what you can do. But in the future you have to ask permission before trying anything like that, OK?” She told him smiling at him so he would understand she wasn't mad at him.

“OK I won't bwoo up any more budings K Lady Xandria!” he shook his little head side to side to make his statement known. She laughed out loud and pulled him into a big hug.

“I believe you honey you all did great! I am not mad in the least come her girls group hug time.” She pulled the three girls into the hug where she was already hugging Bavo. When the group hug was over she sat them down again to give them instructions once more. This time it was on this end of town only there was one live person inside the building being held hostage by a group of werewolves. Every room and outside of the house was littered with them. They had to get inside and rescue the person safely and bring them back here.
