Chapter 38 The Battle Begins
Never in the history of our kind has there ever been a war waged between werewolves and vampire royalty upon such a scale as this. Yes there have been battles before between the two, mostly rogue wolves or stray vampire waging battles here and there. Not whole bands of organized werewolves against the heartland of the leading faction. The Royal Vampire, Werewolves, Shapeshifters, and Witches put into the position by their own governing bodies to protect them; The High Council.
Here we stand waiting for them to attack us from the south. Fortunately our allies have been successful at holding off the westerly advances from attacking at the same time as the southerly one are. It is just a matter of a few more hours at the least before they get here, and all hell breaks loose on our compound. That is when we find out if our defenses will hold true and strong. We are praying to the Moon Goddess up above that they do, and that she sees fit to protect us and all that reside within these walls.
Anton is making his final rounds checking on all the guards around the outer walls along with his brother Sorin. While Sandu checks the guards protecting the inner manor, and up on the roof where the helo pad resides with our one helicopter sits waiting just in case we need it. Plan B.
Night falls the full moon shined down brightly through the inky dark of the night sky. The stars are twinkling like thousands of brightly lit nativity lights haphazardly placed throughout the inky dark of the night lighting the way. It is such an eerie sight in this day of all days, knowing what is just beyond those walls dying to get in to do their darnedest. Their deadliest.
Here we all sit, some praying to the all mighty Goddess; The Moon Goddess herself. To protect us from what lay just beyond our walls and help preserve our way of life; and the lives of the rest of the world.
We are just moments away from the first attack upon our southern most walls. We can hear them heading this way, we have sensors that are picking up a large band of people heading this way about a mile away stealthy streaking through the woods. They don't know we can detect them with our long range sensors creeping up on us as they do. Though since that last attack on the compound so long ago we set up all new detection equipment so as to never be caught off guard again, this time they are set up in all directions and detecting like just now.
We three girls are down in the conference room to monitor the advancement or the invading werewolves. We have several high tech screen set up hanging down from the ceiling over the conference room table along with communication equipment to talk to all our people to keep them informed of what lie ahead of them. The first wave of wolves has almost reached the outer most wall and we are waiting to see is Lady Xandria's spells to keep out unwanted will work. It is a wait and see game as of yet, they are getting so close now we can see them just beyond the walls creeping through the woods that surround the encampment.
We are sitting waiting for the right moment to turn on all the spot lights to surprise them, blinding them as they make their first attempt. It is part of our counter attack measures, blind them first then take out the first wave with lasers and our first guns to give our guards some practice. It is just to warm them up for what is to come later in the bigger battles. We are watching them on our monitors about to throw the switches that will blind them all singling the start of the war to end all wars in out time.
Amalia presses down on the large red button marked lights and the outer walls light up brighter than daylight directly out toward the forest beyond our walls. Hundreds of werewolves are advancing upon our compound with little if any chance of entering their eyes glow in our lights, some yellowish some a pure black in color. The battle begins with howling from beyond, screams of sorts, as wolf after wolf drops dead. Our guards are killing them dead, the few that get too close to the walls are thrown back threw the ranks against the trees with a thud. The first wave last for just over two hours leaving behind a large mound of dead and dying wolves in their wake. They bound up fast and ferocious upon the fallen and dead trying to leap over the wall only to be repelled back once again through the trees. Lady Xandria's spells of protections are holding up quite well. We know that this is just a test to find out if we have any weaknesses in our defenses, but they all are holding up quite well. Our guards are happy with themselves with their fine work keeping the compound safe. And they are all getting in some great practice with their new weapons finally.
