Chapter 30 Continuing Troubles

Day three of seven the testing still goes on even with all the troubles of the past two days. Queen Verena has decided to oversee today's testing personally. They head out just as before with them trudging through the well worn stone and dirt path, up to the village now a familiar site to them all. They finally reach the large fountain the children run over to it and gather around the Queen in a semicircle. They sit and wait for their usual breakfast and drinks she has lugged all the way up the path through the woods; they sit patiently waiting. To the children it is becoming quite the entertaining experience to see what they will be challenged with next. They sit in silence waiting for the Queen to tell them what she has planned for their next test; waiting and wondering but it is totally quiet.

They sit waiting for the Queen to say something, or to start handing out food an drinks, but she is just sitting there, eyes gassing off over their heads off into the village as if she is looking at something very interesting. “Grandma Queen Verena?” one child calls out to her not catching her attention in the least bit. Bavo stands and walks up to her reaching his little hand to her hand touching her hand laying in her lap he touches it lightly. 

“Oh yes what is it Master Bavo. How may I help you little one?” A stunned Queen asks.

“You were looking funny. Your face was yucky like.” he stated. Going back to sit down with the rest of the children.

“I am sorry little one. I thought I saw someone. I was talking to the rest of the Protectors and Enforcers. They will be here any minute. One day you four will be able to do the same.

“We three can all talk to each other now” Valia returned to the Queen.

“No sweetie I am not talking about voicing by mouth. I mean by thinking it and the other hearing what you are thinking.” She explained.

“Yes that is how we do it Bavo, me and Icka” Valia explained.

The Queen looked down at little Valia and called her over to her. Whispered into her ear. “Tell the other two I love them and have them say we love you also grandma” a moment later two little voices chorused back. “We love you too grandma.” to say the Queen was shocked was a total understatement.

“Very good children, but can you do it with little Lady Gaia too? Valia come here and say this to her” She came over to the Queen and listened in intently. “Tell her to come give me a kiss” The Queen sat there waiting, but nothing happened. She continued to sit there waiting, but still nothing happened. “Did you tell her Valia?”

“I tried, but she is not talking to me like my brother and sister are.” she replied

“OK, I know why, and we can fix that at the end of the week on the full moon it is perfectly OK sweetie don't fret it” The Queen told her. “Come here Lady Gaia and give grandma a hug. That is what I told Valia to tell you to do.” She jumped up and ran over to the Queen and gave here a hug just as all the people were rounding the bend to the village. “Children please wait here while Grams goes to talk to the adults! OK?” They all nodded their head as she rose from her place on the seat wall by the fountain and walked over to everyone else. 

“We have a slight problem here. When I arrived here with the children I spotted someone running across the road at the end by the last house, that brown and blue one heading east. I believe he had on blue jeans and a gray shirt with a blue hat and dark shoes or sneakers. He was running kind of fast to be human so he could be one of us. We need to fan out and find him and not kill him so we can interrogate him, find out how they are getting in here. Spread out and go catch that guy.” The Queen instructed everyone bowed then left to follow her instructions as she walked back over to the children and sat back down to talk with them once again.
