"What is Phase 2?" Tony asked as Steve and I walked back into the lab with the gun we found along with the HYDRA equipment.

"Phase 2 is S.H.I.E.L.D. using the Cube to make weapons," Steve stated his explanation as he tossed the weapon down on the table.
"Sorry boss but we wanted answers so we went looking ourselves." I shrugged, not exactly sorry over the situation.

"Rogers, Langdon, we gathered everything related to the Tesseract. This does not mean that we're making..." Nick Fury tried to tell us, his palms faced to us.

"I'm sorry, Nick." Tony turned the screen around to show all the databases on the screen. "What were you lying?"

"I was wrong Andie, the world hasn't changed a bit," Steve spoke, not even tearing his gaze away from the director as Thor and Natasha walked in.

"Did you know about this?" Bruce questioned Natasha who looked like she just wanted to turn around and walk back out.

"You want to think about removing yourself from this environment, Doctor?" She asked the tense man as she looked pretty tense herself.

"I was in Calcutta. I was pretty well removed." He pointed out bluntly.

"Loki's manipulating you."

"And you've been doing what, exactly?" Banner demanded the redhead.

"You didn't come here because I bat my eyelashes at you."

"Yes, and I'm not leaving because suddenly you get a little twitchy." He walked over to the tablet screen and pointed at the copied information. "I'd like to know why S.H.I.E.L.D. is using the Tesseract to build weapons of mass destruction."

"Because of him." Nick pointed over to Thor who was running a hand through his blonde locks.

"Me?" Thor asked, confused as to why he was being accused.

"Last year, Earth had a visitor from another planet who had a grudge match that leveled a small town," Nick explained to the group of Avengers, his voice raising from his frustration at the group of so-called heroes. "We learned that not only are we not alone but we are hopeless, hilariously, outgunned."

"My people want nothing but peace with your planet." Thor defended his culture.

"But you're not the only people out there, are you?" Nick explained. "And you're not the only threat. The world's filling up with people who can't be matched, that can't be controlled."

"Like you controlled the Cube?" Steve crossed his arms, his face stoic.

"Your work with the Tesseract is what drew Loki to it, and his allies. It is a signal to all the realms that the Earth is ready for a higher form of war." Thor explained.

"A higher form?" I questioned.

"You forced our hand," Nick informed. "We had to come up with something."

"Nuclear deterrent." Tony piped up. "Because that always calms everything right down."

"Remind me again how you made your fortune, Stark." Nick shot back, pointing out Tony's past.

"I'm sure if he still made weapons, Stark would be neck- deep," Steve was cut off by Tony.

"Hold on. How is this now about me?" Tony spoke out, suddenly defensive, which made me roll my eyes.

"I'm sorry. Isn't everything?" Steve asked.

"I thought humans were more evolved than this," Thor spoke out.
