- thank you so much for 1k reads! I never expected that to happen when I started these imagines, and I'm so grateful for every person who took the time to read them. (:

Y/N had, after many months of constant daily practice, pushed all thoughts of Theo Raeken aside. She had been there to witness him being swallowed up by the black hole, the pit that was there only to drag him down to his own personal hell. The worst part of it all was that underneath all the layers of hurt and pain, she knew it was for the safety of her town and friends. Having those kind of feelings for the villain of the story was just endangering them, right?

And so Y/N soldiered on through the bleak six months that followed, distracting her plagued mind with studying and her aching heart with friends. It was slowly becoming easier, and some days she could almost convince herself that things were okay. Almost.

A low groan escaped her lips as she forced her tired wrist to grace the paper with a pen. Homework and exams were a good excuse not to think about him, but her brain fought against her will like always. Y/N clenched her free hand into a fist as an image of his blue eyes forced its way into her mind.

If Theo had been there, she thought to herself, the corners of his lips would turn up into a subtle smile, his eyes sparkling with amusement. He'd plant a teasingly short kiss onto her parted lips, encouraging her to drop all thoughts of studying.

The familiar chime of the front doorbell interrupted Y/N's train of thought, and she grudgingly left her room to answer it. Hesitantly opening the door, she was completely taken aback by the sight that greeted her. "Y/N." Theo's voice was rough, his skin paled and blue eyes dull with bags underneath them. Y/N's hand flew to her lips, her eyes wide with shock.

"What-what the hell?" She'd planned what to say if he ever returned for so long, and yet such confused and clumsy words tumbled out of her mouth. Theo smiled, a slight blink-and-you-miss-it smile, one laced with a sad bitterness. "Y/N, I'm sorry-" He paused as the girl took in his rugged, exhausted appearance. "You're back." She flung her arms around him, burying her face in the crook of his neck. Theo didn't react at first, his body language stiff, but he eventually relaxed into Y/N's embrace.

"I missed you. So much." He whispered into the shell of her ear, his arms strong and steady around her waist. Y/N allowed a strong wave of relief to wash over her, brushing aside the questions that she so desperately wanted an answer to. "I love you. I didn't get to say that before..it happened, so now I am." Y/N's voice was a gentle whisper, and Theo could feel her warm breath on his skin.

"I love you too. I hate that this had to happen for me to actually admit that." He pulled away slightly, kissing the tip of her nose lightly. Y/N smiled, a genuine smile, one where the dim glow from the nearby streetlights reflected in her bright eyes. A mild flush graced her cheeks, whether it was due to the boy in front of her or the cold night air was left ambiguous.
