Đề bài: It is generally acknowledged that that families now are not as close as they used to be. What are some possible reasons for this and what can be done to reverse the trend?
Brainstorm:
a. Body 1: Reasons
- Hectic lifestyle: esp in big cities with the rat race
-> parents have a tendency of immersing in their work
-> working pressure: neglect of the children
-> family members slowly drift apart
- The prevalence of technological devices
-> members in a family, most notably young people, would rather spend their spare time on games and Internet in preference to family activities
-> loosen family ties
b. Body 2: Solutions
- Working parents, esp in a dual-income families: give family members priority over working
-> companies: make a contribution - allow employees with infants or adolescents take a larger amount of time off work
-> bring back the unity in families
- Impose regulations on the use of electronic devices (computers, tablets,..)
-> deter children from being engrossed in these pieces of equipment
-> to this end: hold get-togethers or conduct family trips: quality time
-> family bonds be re-strengthened
My essay:
In the light of our fast-paced society, it is sadly true that family relationships have deteriorated considerably in recent years. The phenomenon outlined above can be attributed to a host of reasons, and this can be tackled by practical approaches adopted by all family members.
One of the underlying causes that renders families today not close-knit as before is the citizens' increasingly hectic lifestyle. The materialism of modern society and the far-reaching effects of the rat race in big cities have acted as a precursor to parents' tendency of immersing in their work. Being placed under working pressure, couples barely have time for the family. This has led to their neglect of the children, and thus family members slowly drift apart. The prevalence of technological devices also plays an integral role in this trend. Nowadays members in a family, most notably young people, would rather spend their spare time on games and Internet in preference to family activities, which has contributed to the unavoidable looseness of family ties.
In order to reunite the ties of kinship, a number of necessary steps should be followed. To begin with, it is imperative that working parents, especially ones in a dual-income families, give family members priority over work. Companies can ameliorate this situation as well by allowing employees with infants or adolescents take a larger amount of time off work for the children. The aforementioned methods should be employed in tandem with imposing regulations on children's use of electronic devices such as computers, tablets and smartphones. This may deter them from being engrossed in these pieces of equipment. The effects of this limit can even be fortified if parents hold get-togethers or conduct family trips in order that family members can enjoy quality time together. By this way, family bonds would be re-strengthened dramatically.
In conclusion, the lack of intimacy between family members can be ascribed to numerous factors, and the solutions mentioned above should be adopted to bring back the vital unity in families.
