Đề bài: Some people believe that air travel should be restricted because it causes serious pollution and uses up the world's fuel resources. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Brainstorm:
a. Body 1: Agree
- Airplanes: consume a huge amount of energy (fossil fuel) >> other modes of transport
-> contribute to the depletion of the world's fuel resources
-> emission of exhaust fumes: detrimental effect on environment (air pollution)
- Worsened: proliferation of air travel -> adopt the habit of travelling on air - not long distance
b. Body 2: Disagree
- Lift large number of passengers
-> the amount of consumed energy + fumes per person: quite small
- Travel to a far destination/ distant country: air transportation is a crucial
- Ex: depart from VN + arrive in the USA -> using any modes of transportation rather than on air is irritating and time-consuming
My essay:
In the light of the increasing public awareness of environmental problems, it is widely believed that air transport should be limited due to its undesired effects on the world's air purity and fuel sources. While it is valid to a certain extent, I contend that air travel still play pivotal role in our life and should be encouraged.
The notion that travelling on air is attributed to acute air pollution and the exhaustion of global fuel resources is largely justifiable. The key rationale in favor of this view is that airplanes consume a huge amount of energy, mostly fossil fuel in comparison with other forms of vehicles. This can be a contributor to the depletion of the world's fuel resources as well as the emission of exhaust fumes, which has detrimental effects on our environment such as air pollution. This situation is worsened because of the proliferation of air travel that encourages passengers to adopt the habit of travelling on air even when it is unnecessary. Vietnam perfectly exemplifies this issue. A large number of Vietnamese people opt to use airways even for a very short distance, contributing to the air pollution level and fuel exhaustion.
However, contrary to the aforementioned belief, I would argue that air travel should not be put under restriction. The reason behind this is that the impacts which air transport has on the environment is not significant. Planes are able to lift large numbers of passengers at the same time, which means the amount of consumed energy as well as exhaust fumes per person is somewhat small. Therefore, air travel's negative effects on the global environment can be meager compared with other modes of transport. Moreover, when people want to reach a far destination or a distant country, air transportation is crucial. For example, if passengers need to travel from Vietnam to the USA, they would opt to travel on air as using any modes of transportation rather than airplanes is irritating and time-consuming.
In conclusion, while there are various reasons to advocate the restriction of air travel for fear of the world's fuel exhaustion and air pollution, I am of the opinion that this mode of transport should not be discouraged.
