Đề bài: Explain some of the ways in which humans are damaging the environment. What can governments do to address these problems? What can individuals do?
My essay:
It is true that people's activities and behavior are having a detrimental effect on the environment. In this essay, I am going to demonstrate that there are a number of causes of this phenomenon and these problems can be tackled by viable solutions adopted by governments and individuals.
One of the main ways in which humans do damage to the environment is using private transport. Many people tend to use this mode of transport in lieu of buses and trains in terms of convenience and comfort, and the evergrowing number of private vehicles contributes to a gradual increase in the amount of exhaust emission such as CO2. Due to these fumes, the world is now faced with the critical issue of greenhouse effect, global warming and the rise of sea levels. People also cause environmental deterioration by overusing natural resources. Humans have a tendency of taking natural resources for granted, which can lead to their waste of power and minerals. The implication of this situation is that the earth's natural resources would be depleted in a short period of time without practical measures imposed by people.
In order to address the aforementioned problems, governments should enact strict laws about the environment. Heavy fines should be given to offenders and this money can be poured back into environmental preservation and scientific research into green power such as hydroelectric and tidal energy. Educating people about the importance of the environment can also be a reliable method. However, these solutions must be taken in tandem with the contribution of each individual. Citizens should be aware of their behavior to the environment, which can be shown by opting for public transportation instead of private vehicles and exploiting electricity and other natural resources only when needed.
In conclusion, the deterioration of the environment can be attributed to a variety of reasons, and this problem can be addressed by decisive and prompt actions performed by the states and citizens.
