We were sitting quietly away from everyone, like we always do. Our eyes were closed, my head was on your shoulder and your head was atop mine.
Your shoulder was comfortable and I was tired and I was almost falling asleep.
I opened my eyes and looked up at you and my eyes could barely focus on your face, but it was there, I saw it. So I reached up and squished your cheek with my finger and your eyes opened and you smiled down at me.
The butterflies in my stomach erupted.
"My cheeks are too squishy..." you trailed off.
"But they're amazing," I said, my heart growing warm looking up at you.
"They're ugly."
"No they're beautiful, like you," I replied.
"I'm ugly."
But I knew inside my heart that was a lie. You are in no way ugly, you are the direct opposite, you send out beautiful waves, every part of you is beautiful, you glow with beauty. And maybe I think that just because I'm in love, but every part of me believes it to be true. You are beautiful.
"You are beautiful," I said aloud. I didn't want to say too much, to make you figure out my secrets. But you needed more than just that. "Every part of you is beautiful."
You were silent, so I continued.
"Your hair is beautiful even when it's messy, dirty or crazy. Your eyebrows are beautiful, your skin is beautiful, your face is beautiful, your body is beautiful, your hands, arms, feet and legs are beautiful. Everything about you is beautiful. And I believe it, I know it."
Your eyes dipped down and looked at me.
My heart melted.
"Thank you," you whispered quietly. "Everything about you is beautiful too."
And everything within me was filled with happiness.
