Four - A new job & A familiar coworker

Harry's tea had worked, I had fallen asleep very quickly that night, in my own bed of course, after drinking the tea I had come back to my own apartment.

And now I was late, because of my deep sleep I had not heard my alarm going off, and no I had woken up 20 minutes late.

"Shit!" I exclaim and jump out of bed. I quickly take a shower and dry my hair afterwards. Then I get dressed, formally of course. Quickly I do my make up and grab my bag and a bagel for on the way.

To make it even worse, I had to take the bus, thank god it wasn't that late so I ended up only being 5 minutes late at work.

"I'm so sorry, I overslept," I pant as I walk to my desk and apologize to my boss.

"It's alright, it's just five minutes, try to be on time next time," he smiles.

"I will try sir," I say politely and set everything on my desk.

"Alright, Zoe will tell you what to do, and I will come check on you in a little while, you can ask me questions then," and with that he walked away.

"I'm Zoe," a voice startles me.

"Geez, you scared the crap out of me," I say and lay my hand on my heart.

"I'm sorry," she giggles. I look to my left and see the girl named Zoe sitting at her desk. The first thing I noticed about her was her hair. Man that was long! I had quite long hair, but hers was way longer than mine.

"I'm Zoe," she says with a smile.'What's your name?"

"Avery,' I answer "Our boss said you would help me?"

"Oh yes, he said there was a new editor coming," she says and rols her chair over to my desk. "He told me you finished college a couple months and were top of the class. So you're quite good at editing."

"Uh yeah, I'm pretty good if you say so," I mumble.

"Alright, I'm just here to give you a few guidelines and what you're gonna do for the rest of the week," she says with a smile and turns on the computer.

I found out Zoe had been working here for a couple years, she was a very nice and kind person. During  work she would joke around and tell me about the other people that were working here. Me, Zoe and two other people are the editors, so we're all sat together.

The people who write the columns, the designers, the accounts, ... are also sat together.

"That's Tanya, she's been working here for so long, she's Mr. Grey's secretary and super friendly," Zoe explains when Taynya walks by.

"The two other editors are Jade en Jessy," she says and nods to the two girls opposite of us.

"So, how are things going Avery?" I hear a voice ask. I turn around and see Mr. Grey standing behind me.

"Quite good actually, the editing is going well," I state with a smile.

"That's lovely, I hope you're getting along with everyone."

"I am sir," I respond with a polite smile.

"Alright, I'll leave you be now, lunch break is in an hour."

"God, I'm so hungry," I complain as we walk to the lunch area.

"Me too," Zoe mimicks my tone. She was a very pleasant person to be around, she never asked me about my past, just where I'm from and I appreciate her for that. She never failed to make me smile.
