When I open my eyes I panic for moment, but then realize where I was and why. I sigh and lay on my side staring in front of me. Is this how my life was gonna be from now of on? Running from the bad guys and constantly worrying about my family.
Why me? It wasn't like I had special powers, I could just set things on fire, big whoop, I barely even do it. Sighing again I throw the cover off me and get up. Stepping out of my room I look around in the hallway and close my door.
When I walk into the kitchen I see Harry cooking something.
"Good morning," he says cheerfully. I just groan in response and sit down on one of the stools placed at the breakfast bar.
"Wow, you're so cheerful in the morning," Harry jokes.
"Shut up," I say and tie my hair in a bun on top of my head.
"Want some scrambled eggs?" he asks.
"Yeah sure," I say. Harry grabs a plate and puts some eggs on it and then places it in front of me. He also gives me a fork and some bread
"Coffee?"
I nod and take a bite of my eggs.
"Did you sleep well?" Harry asks and places a mug filled with coffee in front of me and then serves himself some food and coffee.
"Yeah, I was really tired," I answer. Harry nods and sits next to me.
"You?" I ask then.
"Good too."
I nod and just stare in front of me, man I'm shit at conversation.
"Jack said you spend a lot of time here," I then suddenly blurt out. Harry looks at me and frowns. Oh shit, I shouldn't have said that.
"Uh yeah, why'd you ask?" I swallow and shrug.
"Dunno, trying to keep the conversation going I guess," I mumble. Harry just laughs and shakes his head.
"What?" I ask.
"You can ask me things, Avery. If I don't want to tell something I'll let you know," Harry explains. I nod and look at my plate.
"You're not like me."
"What do you mean?"
"You're so open, you let everyone know what's going on, you don't hide things."
"Then maybe you should start being a bit more open," Harry tells me. Now it was my turn to laugh and shake my head.
"I can't do that."
"Why not?"
"You wouldn't understand."
"Good morning!" a voice suddenly says. I lift my head and see Jack walking into the kitchen.
I just nod and smile eating my breakfast.
"If anyone needs me, I'll be in my room," I say after I finish breakfast and put my plate and mug in the dishwasher. The two boys just nod.
It felt odd walking into "my" room, this didn't felt like my home, it just felt wrong. I flopped down on my bed and closed my eyes, if only I was a kid again. There were no Ravens, no complications, I was free. How would life be outside London? I know nothing about the world outside London, are things the same in other countries? The news is something that doesn't exist anymore.
There was just one thing that I didn't understand, if they had the government under control than why hadn't they done more? It's like they act like they have government under control but they actually don't.
