The hallways of this building are fairly normal, with fluorescent lights in the ceiling. The hallway extends from one end to another, with a big entry way in the center. My room is at the end of the hallway; Or should I say my old room? I turn right and start strolling toward the gap in the wall that leads to the Main Living Space. The Main Living space is in the center of the structure, allowing you to see the inside balconies from all the floors. It holds the title as the only place to socialize between the floors. Other than that room, no one can speak to anyone from a different floor. For example, now I won’t be able to talk to anyone in The Bottom level unless I’m in The Main Living Space. I enter the huge room, and instantly see many of groups talking amongst each other. I haven’t spent much time here, although I’ve been meaning to get around to it. I always tell myself “I’ll do it tonight” or “It can wait until tomorrow”. I guess I’d just been intimidated by so many people in one place. The Main Living Space connects to the cafeteria, so people can eat and socialize. Each level has a certain time for eating, and sometimes the dates overlap. Today my lunch is scheduled to be right after physical workouts, so I have the pleasure of being sweaty while eating. I head over to one of the numerous elevators they have here, and push the “Up” button next to the door. At the top little lights show what floor the elevator is stopped on, and I watch as the light travels down the line. Three, Two, One. The elevator emits a prominent beep, signaling that the doors are about to open. I step aside, out of respect for anyone that might be exiting the elevator. Courtesy is almost a law here, although most people who either just got here, or have been here too long to lose, don’t really follow it. The elevator doors open silently, and two Overseers step out with guns strapped to their hips. They almost never carry firearms unless they have to take someone to The Room. They walk quickly and forcefully toward the crowd of people in The Main Living Space. They approach a table of chattering Bottom Levelers and push a few people out of the way to get to someone in the center of the group. There is a scream and everyone in the room turns their heads to the two Overseers carrying the Bottom Leveler out of the Main Living Space and into the elevator, which is still waiting an occupant. I stare at them as they enter, with the boy held down by both Overseers by his elbows. He kicks his feet wildly while yelling for help but no one in their right mind would want to mess with The Guild. The Guild has control over everything, so if you messed with them you would be sent to The Room before you could say “My bad”. Life is unfair for everyone here, which if you really think about it, actually makes it fair.
