That night I had dreams of her. Happy dreams, filled with joy and...Dani. She was sitting across from me in a table at the Cafeteria, her black hair falling to the floor almost. She just stares at me with that beautiful crooked smile of hers. You know, the smile that goes up a half centimeter higher on one side than the other. That was the whole dream, just me sitting across from her in the Cafeteria. I didn’t even notice if there was anyone else there, I was too busy looking into her glassy green eyes. The dream ends abruptly, and as soon as I wake up, it quickly fades from my memory. I rub my tired eyes and climb out of bed, detaching the stickers of the dream reader from my temple. I sit up and sigh as I rub my palms against my face, trying to wake myself up. Today already feels like a dreadful day, and I haven’t even been up for five minutes. I stand up, and glance down at my watch on the table. 7:00. God, I have an hour to kill before I have to go to class, and I’m sure Callista2 isn’t awake yet. I get dressed in the usual white clothing, and then make my way to the door. I open it quietly, so not to wake Callista2, and then proceed out into the living room. Her door is closed, so I assume she is still sleeping. I wonder what she dreams about...I make a mental note to ask her in the morning. I sit down silently on the couch and turn on the television. I scroll through the channels, I mean there isn’t really much else to do in the mornings, usually everyone is asleep. Besides, you can’t leave your apartment until 7:45. I sigh to myself again, and then the sigh turns into a yawn. I really am tired this morning, which is going to be terrible to deal with during Dream Study, the most boring class of the day. I get to the channel with 52737 again and my brain just remembered the note in the elevator. Then, my head started to swirl as paranoia set in. What if one of the cameras had caught us? And if it did, has The Guild watched it yet? Then, almost as if on cue, someone knocks on the door. My eyebrows push together, and I stand up, walking toward the door. The only person that is allowed out in the halls right now is an Overseer, and I just skimmed through the channels and saw nothing. I hesitate before I twist the knob, fearing what may be behind the door. I open it quickly, and an Overseer with a helmet on stands in the doorway. “Hello?” I ask, faking a yawn like I just got out of bed, which I kind of did. “Hello, are you Roger?” He asks sternly. “Yes, I am” I reply, rubbing my eyes. “Is Callista2 also here?” He asks, slightly tilting his head inside. “Yeah, but she’s asleep, I think” I reply. “Oh. Well may I come in?” He asks, pushing past me before I could give an answer. “I guess” I mumble under my breath. The overseer walks around the room, glances at the television, then slowly walks over to Callista2’s door. He knocks a total of six times, and I’m sure people down the hall could hear it as well. I actually flinch at the first sound. “Hey what are you doing? She’s asleep, her dream reader is still attached, you could make her fail!” I say, my voice getting louder with every word. “That’s not something you need to worry about.” The Overseer replies, matching my tone. “It is definitely my problem! If she fails this, then she will be sent to the room, and I will NOT let that happen!” I’m yelling now, and so is the Overseer. “I would watch your volume” He says, looking back at me, I can feel his glare through his helmet. I suddenly back down, and back away from him. “Good” He says, his voice lowering. I just look back at him angrily, knowing that if I tried anything I would regret it. Callista2 opens the door yawning, and in her underwear still. “What is it now Roger?” She asks, not opening her eyes yet. “You’re coming with me” The Overseer says, and Callista2 opens her eyes, and that’s when everything crumbled around me.
