It had been a long week without any contact with Jace or Isabelle. Alec could feel his grip on them slipping, and couldn't take it. On the bright side, things with Magnus were going well. They were in a nice stage, where they would have sex, but with some domestic elements to it. Alec had never experienced the domestic side to a sex partner, but was thoroughly enjoying it with Magnus.

Alec sat on his bed, stroking Bear's fur softly. Even though his mother said the dog was his, he knew it was technically hers too. Although, Bear seemed to like Alec a lot. He slept in Alec's room and dug his way under the covers to cuddle with him. Alec knew that Maryse got the dog to fill the void of Jace and Isabelle's absence, but it only worked a little bit.

Maryse was out working, and Alec felt really alone. Whenever he was left alone, his thoughts would try and eat him up. The thoughts that told him he needed to lose weight, or that no one actually liked him; they just felt sorry for him. Every time he had these thoughts, he would usually give in and accept them, but since Magnus confronted him about them he wanted to try and help himself.

Accepting that there was something wrong was a big part in recovery, but Alec didn't know how to stop. He didn't want to pester his mother by asking her to sort out therapy or a doctor, or something, for him; it would just annoy her and she might not even believe him. Something told Alec she would be the type of person to tell him to brush it off and that only girls got eating disorders. She wouldn't get it.

Alec let out a long sigh, eventually picking up his phone and texting Aline that she should come over, to which she replied quickly that she would. They were on Halloween break now, so they didn't have to sit through school and contemplate death. Alec had about ten parties lined up for him to go to, but still had almost a week to decide which one he would go to.

When Aline came over, Alec clung onto her like she was the last person left on earth. "Still nothing from Jace or Izzy?" Aline asked sadly, sitting on Alec's bed with him, stroking Bear, who was jumping and yapping at her. Alec shook his head as he looked down at his folded fingers, asking for her to change the subject, which she did.

"So, how's Magnus?" Aline asked, her smirk wide and devious. Alec let out a small laugh at her excitement, his cheeks tinting red in embarrassment. "Things between Magnus and I are great, but I feel like he wants a relationship or something. But, I'm just not into that. I prefer to fuck, then chuck."

Aline rolled her eyes, "Are you still telling yourself that you don't like him?" Alec acted shocked, immediately defending himself, "Aline, I don't like him. I like being single, and one boy isn't going to change that. He doesn't even know my real age; how much can he really like me when he finds out I'm not even an adult?"

"You should really tell him, Alec. Imagine you had the risk of going to jail and you didn't even know it; it's kind of cruel and if you like him, even as a friend, you'd see how badly he needs to know." Aline told Alec, Alec swallowing a lump in his throat. He felt guilty now. But, not telling Magnus about the fact that he was 17 gave Alec a certain power, and he didn't want to lose it.

Aline continued, "I know you'll make the right decision." Alec and Aline hung out for a while, before Aline told Alec that she was about to board a flight to Spain. Alec was really shocked and begged her not to go, but she said she knew he would say that and that's why she didn't tell him until the last minute.

Alec then realised she wouldn't be here for Halloween either, and got even more sad. They always went to Halloween parties together, and it would be weird for Alec to go to one without his partner in crime. He hugged her for a good ten minutes before letting her leave, slamming the door shut with a groan.

When Alec got bored of sitting in and staring at the wall, hoping Aline would come back, he texted Magnus that he was coming over. He left Bear, because he knew his mother would be back soon anyway and Magnus probably didn't want an untrained puppy shitting all over his apartment. Magnus texted back that he didn't ask but okay, making Alec smile.
