Alec finally had his siblings back, well, he had one of them. Having Jace back in New York helped a lot, but the bomb of Max dying and Isabelle being in critical condition weighed it out to bad again for Alec. Jace still didn't know about Alec's overdose, and Alec hoped he would never find out. It was just unnecessary stress.

"Did you wanna call your friends up to the hospital? I'm sure Isabelle would appreciate it if her friends were here when she woke up," Alec asked Jace quietly, the only other sound in the room being the ticking clock above Jace's head and the beeping of Isabelle's heart monitor. Jace let out a sigh, nodding his head slightly. He looked really tired. Alec probably did too.

Alec said, "Was the weather in California nice, at least?" Jace turned to him, his lips curving into a smile as he let out a little laugh. Jace got his phone out of his pocket, presumably texting Clary and his other friends. "I missed you and your multiple boy-toys, a lot. I guess I missed your annoying giggly gay ass more than I expected." Jace said, amusement laced into his voice.

A small giggle left Alec's lips at this, turning to look at Jace with a grin. "I'm really glad you're back," Alec smiled weakly, catching Jace's eyes. Jace said he felt the same, reaching over and hugging Alec tightly. It felt as though they had hugged a lot since Jace got back to New York, but they couldn't help it. They had a strong brotherly bond.

"Are we interrupting something?" The two of them turned, seeing Simon, Maia, and Clary standing there. Simon obviously asked the question, the only one awkward enough to say something like that in this situation. Clary's sad eyes laid on Isabelle, but turned to shock and joy as they laid on Jace. Maia looked sad too, holding a packaged sandwich.

Jace got up, his eyes going straight to Clary. Alec envied their infatuation. Sometimes he wanted love, and other times he thought it wouldn't suit him. After Jace reunited with his friends, all attention was on Isabelle.

"We're not sure when or if she's going to wake up," Jace said sadly, sitting back down and letting his eyes fall on Isabelle's gentle face. "And we lost Max." Clary let out a quiet gasp, Simon and Maia looking down solemnly. They couldn't even imagine what Jace and Alec were going through.

Alec's hand stayed in Isabelle's, his head whipping to look at her as he felt it twitch. "Isabelle?" He called out desperately, leaning in closer to her face. Alec kept imagining her eyes opening and looking at him, her brown eyes exposed to the sad world again. Yet when she did, it seemed so different to how he imagined. They were still so full of life, yet filled with sadness.

"You're awake," Alec felt a grin grow on his face, breathing out. Everyone else crowded around her, all of them smiling down at her. "Max?" Isabelle asked, her voice quiet and full of anticipation. Alec looked at Jace sadly, then back down at Isabelle, shaking his head and biting his lip.

Isabelle broke out slowly into a fit of sobs, covering her face and sinking down deeper into her hospital bed, the heart monitor beside her starting to beat quicker. Isabelle was closer to Max than Jace or Alec, as she was the closest to his age and he was always the one to hide behind her legs when he was scared or timid.

Alec put a gentle hand on her upper arm, frowning at the sight, trying not to cry again. He had cried too much recently to do so again; he didn't even understand where the tears were coming from. "Do you want us to leave you alone?" Jace asked softly, Isabelle not opening her eyes and continuing to cry into her hands.

"No; I want you guys here. I just wanted Max too." She cried, sniffling and looking up at the ceiling. Alec had never seen her so distraught. Everyone sat in silence while Isabelle cried and cried for about ten minutes, before she cried herself out, wiping at her face and staring at the ceiling.
