Ed Sheeran loved playing his guitar and even more than that, he seemed to love writing songs. Taylor figured that out, while walking through the city. This time she had learned and took her phone with her, to prevent her from getting lost again, not wanting recent events to repeat themselves. And while mindlessly strolling through the inner part of their city, she had suddenly heard the sounds of a guitar and some singing.
Almost as soon as she had looked up, she had spotted his signature red curls and round face. She had stood next to the other people who had gathered around the singing teen. Quietly, she had waited till the song was over, simply listening to his voice. He was really good. Taylor could listen to him all day, if she wanted. And as soon as he had spotted the blonde she had waved him shyly.
"Your name is Taylor, right?", he had asked after his little concert, squinting his eyes a little. Taylor had immediately noticed his strong British accent, it was even stronger than Caras. He didn't seem to live here for really long, but Taylor hadn't felt like asking about it. Mostly because they always found other things to talk about, before she had even time to try.
The new girl had nodded at that. "Yeah, and you're Ed right?"
He had nodded as well. "Don't we have English together?"
"Yes, we do.", Taylor had replied, a polite smile on her face. "Have you read the book already?"
He just had laughed at that, shaking his head. His red curls shook with the motion. "I'm not really the kind of person to read the book."
Just as Taylor had assumed. She didn't point it out, though. She didn't want to be that person. But, yes, it had been kind of obvious.
Now, a few days later, they somehow had ended up together in their empty English classroom, their teacher had called in sick today ("How sad!", Ed had drily commented as soon as he had heard the news). But somehow they seemed to be the only two students to not be aware of that before school started. Taylor, because she didn't know that there was a website that listed all of their sick teachers and Ed, because he didn't bother checking it. ("Every minute I can sleep longer needs to be used.")
Their originally plan of doing the homework had quickly faded into talking about everything else but the homework. Mostly they were chatting about music, both the act of writing and the act of listening to it. Taylor was normally a little insecure about her songwriting - back in her old town, the others had given her a hard time about it -, but with Ed it was different. For one, he was also writing songs himself, but also because he seemed more like the human incarnation of a teddybear, then someone who bullies others.
"You know, we should totally write a song together sometime.", he suddenly suggested, looking at the singer with excitement in his face.
Taylor, who had been in the act of doodling a cat onto the paper in front of her, got caught off guard by that question, she hadn't considered something similar ever happening. Nervously she tucked a strain of her blonde hair behind her ear and then shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know...", she started, wondering about a way to talk herself out of this situation.
The thing was, her songs were all very personal to her. They were like a page ripped out of her diary, underlined with chords. She had always been anxious about performing them, scared that other people would know too much. The writing process even, was a whole new level of privacy. When writing, she always brought out her inner and truest, but with that unfortunately also her most vulnerable self.
But on the other hand, Ed was a songwriter himself. His songs seemed very personal as well. He probably was just as vulnerable as she was and he must be aware of that. He wouldn't hurt her, would he?
