"FUCK.", Cara yelled as she tried to set the ball, but didn't have enough tension in her fingers. As a result the ball landed on her nose, causing her to swear loudly. "SHIT, that hurt!"
"You need more tension in your fingers.", Zayn exclaimed. You could see that he had to try his hardest not to laugh at the sight he just was able to embrace.
Jourdan, who was watching along with Taylor and Gigi, had already given up on this attempt and now laid down onto the linoleum floor, laughing loudly. "Nice one, babe.", she encouraged her girlfriend in between the laughs, but couldn't keep a straight face at all.
After only a few seconds, Gigi had cracked up as well, laughing along with Jourdan. And to be completely honest, it did look hilarious. They definitely had a good reason to laugh. Even Taylor couldn't help but crack a small smile.
"You're doing great!", she encouraged her friend sarcastically which earned her an annoyed look from the Brit.
They were currently all watching Cara at her very first practice session, led by no other than Gigi's boyfriend, Zayn. Who also happened to be a member of the school's volleyball team and therefore had a pretty good idea over what he was doing. They all had agreed that it was for the best, if Cara learned at least the basic before she tried to join the team. And luckily Zayn had volunteered to spend his Saturday mornings, helping her with it. A task that turned out to be not as easy as originally expected.
But still, Cara gave her very best. She had even already talked to the teams coach explaining her and Taylor's deal (She had left out the part involving Karlie though. Taylor was sure that Jourdan had talked to Cara about this previously) and the coach turned out to be very understanding about it. She had agreed to let Cara play in a match if the timing would turn out to be right (In other words when the team had at least such a high point advantage that Cara couldn't ruin their victory) and to let the Briton participate in the regular practice, which was every Tuesday and Thursday after school.
She hadn't quite made it there yet though, right now she was still figuring out how to position her fingers so that the ball wouldn't fly everywhere but where she wanted it to be. The look on her face was still filled with determination, for some reason she really wanted to do this. Taylor had the slight concern that Cara's motivation was the thought of Taylor asking out Karlie, which caused an anxious feeling to rise up in her chest. Her stomach suddenly felt like someone twisted a knot inside it. She couldn't ask Karlie out on a date. This was insane. How does stuff like this even work in the first place? She had absolutely no experience.
What finally pulled her back into the real word, didn't make it any better. It was her phone ringing quickly, to signal her the presence of a new text message. Taylor pulled it out, assuming it to be her parents or maybe her brother, but she guessed incorrectly. The caller ID belonged to Karlie. Speaking of the devil, Taylor thought to herself and unlocked her phone with four quick taps.
Karlie [11:24]
I know this is a little spontaneous, but how about we meet in like 30 mins?Taylor knitted her eyebrows together in confusion. Was that text really meant for her? Because she couldn't remember to have planned on meeting up with Karlie. The blonde brushed a strain of her hair behind her ear. Was she forgetting something?
The answer turned out to be yes. She had, it got clarified only a few seconds later, when another text from the model popped up.
Karlie [11:25]
To go for a run, I mean. Only if you are still down for that, of course ;)There wasn't exactly a specific reason why, but somehow Taylor started blushing. Maybe it was just out of excitement, or nerviosity maybe. And of course, Cara had to take a break at this exact very moment and looked over at Tayor, noticing the slight colour change of her otherwise so pale cheeks.
