Once again it was Karlie who picked up Taylor from her house. She was as enthusiastic as one could be, the signature bright gin was once again plastered on her face as she embraced Taylor in a tight and comfortable hug. Even her eyes had a motivated glow to them.
Unlike her, Taylor would have much rather preferred to stay at home and lazily lay herself onto the comfortable couch that was standing in their living room, almost waiting to get used, for just a little more relaxation. But instead of doing that, she had to remind herself of how great spending time with Karlie was and of how fit she would be at the end of the year in order to not lose any the last bit of motivation that was keeping her from doing so. This couldn't be so bad, could it?
Together the two started running, talking about god-knows what. Karlie had her blonde hair up in a ponytail, just like Taylor. The smaller of the two had added a few bobby pins though, just to keep her curls out of her face. With that she was wearing the exact same clothing like last time (her sports-clothing-sortiment was rather small), Karlie wore something interely different, the only thing that hadn't changed were her sneakers.
"Wait let's go left.", Karlie suddenly suggested at the first corner, as Taylor was about to turn right, just like they did last time.
"Left?", Taylor asked, not really knowing where that would lead them too, she still was kind of lost in this town. "What is different about going left?"
"Left is the forest and that one really gorgeous place I found once. I figured you might want to see it. It's beautiful, I promise."
What could be so beautiful in a forest? Of course, trees weren't that ugly, but on the long term a little repetitive, weren't they? What was Karlie hoping to see? An extra large tree? But on the other hand, it would probably good for her to explore her new home a little more. So why not?
"Okay.", Taylor agreed and they both went left instead of the usual right. Even though it wasn't that usual, since they only went there once before. But on the other hand that were 1/1 times meaning 100%, so technically Taylor wasn't completely wrong. It was probably a matter of perspective.
The hammering of their feet got quieter as soon as the asphalt changed into a mixture of dirt and a few stones. All that was heard now was the quiet noises of their running, their quick breathing and the few birds singing. Every now and then you could also hear the trees rustling either due to an animal or due to the soft wind blowing from their left. It was truly a nice feeling, running through this quietness and seeing the light that was creeping through the trees. Creating an effect that almost looked like glitter.
"So how's Cara doing? Volleyball-wise I mean.", Taylor broke the comfortable silence that had built between the two.
Karlie let out a quiet laugh. "Let's say...she is trying." It came close to a wonder how Karlie wasn't out of breath yet. Taylor on the other hand was sure that someone had built a bonfire in her lungs, or maybe was trying to cut her open from the inside. She was already craving a break.
She rose her eyebrow, smiling along. It was a weird reflex, there was nothing she had to smile about. Yet, here she was, grinning like she just heard something super funny. "What does that mean?", she brought out in between her strongly desired breaths. Running was such a torture. Why was she still doing that to herself? She hated running!
"Well, she just doesn't have the experience like the others, but she still is reluctant to give up. For example that other day, we were practicing serves and she was constantly hitting the ball into the net or it didn't even went that far. Yet she didn't stop, even when we took a break. She continued standing there for a solid fifteen minutes, hitting one ball after the other, hoping that one ball would finally go over the net."
