Alrighty! A lot has happened past week ~ all RA stuff, mind you ~ and it was so much to process that I couldn't tell you before. So here I am! Let's get to it, shall we? I assume you're all curious to what the title of this chapter means, if you didn't know already...

Let's start with the announcement.

October first comes an all new adventure from the hand of John Flanagan. Ranger's Apprentice, The Hunt for The Shadow Animal will be available in all Dutch bookshops! A completely new book, which which John Flanagan wrote SPECIFICALLY AND SPECIALLY for his Dutch fans! Because of this, I have no ideas if and when this book will be available for other fans all over the world. All I know is that DUTCH fans have something huge coming up.

Read well, it's not one of the three books that we've been promised about Maddie's apprenticeship. It's a very special short story of 96 pages, and thus comes with different circumstances. As soon as I have an idea about when the rest of you will get a chance to read the story, I will be the first to let you know.

For those who're curious, the (quickly translated) summary is written below.

Maddie has been under Will's apprenticeship for almost two years and is getting on very well. When Will is needed elsewhere, he leaves Maddie behind to keep an eye on things.

But then a farmer's couple comes a-knocking for help. They complain about a mysterious animal that keeps causing misery at their farm during nights. Maddie may not be a full-fledged Ranger just yet, she does want to help these people. Even though the couple has no faith in Maddie whatsoever, she investigates the situation and draws up a plan. But the plan she has doesn't come without danger...

The following point on my list is a project, and has to do with above stated announcement. Therefore, I'm very to say, but it is meant for the Dutch people reading this English story (I know you exist :)). So.

You probably remember the fanbooklet project that I did back in May. At least, I hope you do. I want to do something similar in October, but once again, I can't do it without you.

As you've hopefully read, John Flanagan wrote this book as a gift for his Dutch fans. I want to give him a gift in return: another fanbooklet (I haven't come up with a new name yet, oops). What I would like from you is very simple: a picture. Just one, together with your name and age, that's all I need.

What picture? you ask. Well, given that this booklet will be a gift for the book that he gave us, it's needs to be a picture of you with the book. Send me a picture of you buying the book. Send me a picture of you reading the book. Send a picture of your first reaction after finishing the book! Just something that shows that you love what he's done for us Dutchies. Something to thank him.

I will put all pictures together, provide a cover and a small note from all of us, thanking him for his efforts. And I'll send it to him.

I hope you Dutch fans will participate in this. Last time the fan booklet was a grand succes, and I hope this will be too, but I can't do it without you.

If you took a picture, please send it to me: redrosearroww@gmail.com

You don't have to worry about you forgetting, I'll make sure you won't. Thanks in advance!!!

Now then, the third and last point on my list is the competition. It's not one from me, but one from Ranger's Apprentice Australia. So, I'm sorry to say, but this one's for the Aussies here. Thing is, I don't know how many of you have Facebook and so I thought it might nice to tell you :)

This is what the official Ranger's Apprentice Facebook page said:

"We're so excited about Brotherband 7: The Caldera, that we want YOU  - yes, you! - to be among the first to read it! We have 5 limited-edition manuscripts to give away - signed by our very own Head Ranger, John Flanagan! Read Brotherband 7 before it hits the stores, with your very own collectors' edition.

So how do you win this magnificent prize?

Purchase ANY Ranger's Apprentice, Ranger's Apprentice: The Early Years, or Brotherband book for someone who hasn't yet read the series. Then, take a creative photo of the proof of purchase with the book (blur or cover any credit card info), and email it to penguinteensaus@penguinrandomhouse.com.au by 5:00pm 30 September 2017.

Help to build our community and #CreateARanger!"

Needless to say, I'm heartbroken that I cannot participate. So, I will have to get my joy from one of you winning! Please do me the honour of participating in this marvelous Aussie competition :)

That was it for the time being! If you couldn't tell, school is requiring all my time already, but it's fun! :) I'd be happy to answer any questions about anything I said in this chapter.

See ya!

Love, Rose
