Daisuke wasn't too scared on meeting your mother. After all, she only stared at the bot in pure amazement.
"I can't believe I haven't seen you during my visits here." Your mother says in astonishment, examining Daisuke as he was floating behind you curiously.
"I thought you might have an idea about him but he seems to have been hiding whenever you and aunties would come and visit grandma." Plopping a sushi on your mouth, you raise your eyes to the robot and purse your lips.
"Your copter is really noisy. Should we get that fixed?"
"N-No! Not at all!" Daiskue gave a nervous chuckle. "It's fine, it still works like it should be hehe.."
You eyed him and shrugged, plopping another sushi into your mouth. "The noise just bothers me."
"Then do you like quiet places?"
"Yes."
The surroundings went quiet again. Although you and your mother were used to the peacefulness that was always there, Daisuke seemed uncomfortable to watch you two eat in the eerie silence.
He flew over to the old tv and tried to turn it on by moving the antennas in different and random directions.
But as he was busy getting frustrated to what was wrong with the signal, he heard a purr from below him and instantly looked down.
It was a cat.
"Mochi!" Daisuke screamed in delight, flying down to the said cat to pet it.
The robot's squeal made you and your mother look up from your dinner. Both of you turned your gazes towards the living room and watched as the tiny bot had a fat cat rubbing against him.
"Is that cat my mother's pet too?" Your mother spoke quietly, eying the Daisuke and the cat, whom were both purring delightfully.
"No," Daisuke giggled. "This cat is named Mochi. He is from the cafe across this house. Ms. Cassandra owns him."
"Cassandra you say?" Your mother's eyebrows rose a little. She looked surprised yet narrowed her eyes.
"Does she go by the name --"
"She liked to be called Cass. Till now, she is still unmarried and seems not to be dating anyone. She has been living with her nephews since she took them in." Daisuke continued, showering his only friend - and company - with attention.
Looking at your mother's expression, for the first time ever since you got here -- she smiled.
She never had smiled like that. Smiling was foreign to you both and none of you two had seen one smiling in front of the other ever since you lost your father.
"I see." She hummed, taking another sushi and eating some rice.
"You.. seem to know her." You mutter softly as you push your plate in front of you to tell that you were done eating.
"She and I had gone to the same highschool back in the day. We're great friends, yet lost contact of each other. It's quite a shame that she never had a partner till now.. I wonder how her nephews are." Your mom began to mumble to herself and you shrug before taking your chopsticks and throwing them away.
"Careful with that cat," You comment, walking towards the living room while taking a seat on the couch. "It's the same size as you are Dai, it might eat you." You snicker.
Daisuke only raised his head and stared at you. He made an annoyed sound which made you snort.
"He has been keeping me company throughout the months when I was all alone here." Daisuke randomly said outloud, petting Mochi. "If he wanted to walk around the neighborhood, I'll come with him. If he wanted to stay and sleep here, I let him. He was basically my playmate, and Cass knew who I was." His dashes were formed into a smile, stopping his stroking when he noticed that Mochi had fallen asleep.
