"You're looking more lively than usual."
You whip your head towards your mother in surprise. That was random. She gave you a small smile and proceeded to turn around to focus on washing the dishes. Breakfast had just been over and you were lazily scrolling on your social media apps until your mother's words caught your attention.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
A short pause was given as a response. A little later, she slowly gestured towards the mirror that was held up on the wall near your figure. "Take a look at yourself."
Yet again, you shot her another curious look. You didn't know what she was talking about, still, you complied to her request and walked over towards the mirror to see what her fuss was about.
Once you were in front of the mirror, your eyes trail over from your fringe to the shape of your eyes, nose and lips. Quietly, you notice the little details that you never knew you had as you made minimal movements to observe them further. The amount of faint (Freckles/Beauty marks) that your (skin color) had, the corners of your lips moving ever-so-slightly and how your brows creased whenever you came to study a certain part of your face.
After a minute or so, you state; "I see no change Ma, I'm still that (Y/n) who needs sleep."
"Oh, you just don't see it because it's you!" She huffed in annoyance as she dismissively waved her hand. "I'm certain others can see you glowing ㅡ" Your mother's voice came to a halt once she saw the familar look on your face. She narrowed her eyes at you and quickly added, "and I mean not literally."
You shake your head. What was with this crazy nonsense that she was sputtering out? "Nothing changed Ma." You insist.
Well, nothing other than your first kiss being the worst memory in your life.
Your mother didn't reply and just gave you a knowing smile (quickly getting over at how annoyed she was with you just a few moments ago) as she got back to put the plates on the shelves. For a little longer, you stare at her with an expectant look. When you didn't get a word out of her, you shrug at her antics and make your way to your room.
Weekends were a great time to binge watch your favorite shows that you left behind ㅡ due to the amount of school work that the institute gave youㅡ you knew you had a ton of shows / series waiting on your watch list, and you had all the time until Sunday night to watch them.
Since it was a Saturday, you were smart enough to convince yourself that you were going to do your homework the next day. If you had plenty of time, you can always do it tomorrow.
Seated on your bed with your laptop on your lap, you saw as Mochi entered your room from the corners of your eyes. He shot his head up upon hearing Daisuke's noisy copter and meowed loudly in acknowledgement.
The two started to get all cuddly and playful by throwing or rolling the ball around the floor. Mochi was surprisingly well trained for a cat due to the fact that the both of them were taking turns in throwing and catching.
Everything was quite peaceful other than a few scratching of paws on the floor and the volume of your movie / series that you were watching. Daisuke often gave off small giggles when the cat tried to pounce on him to pin him down.
Everything was going okay.
For now.
The moment that you heard a loud bang from downstairs, your ears perked up in alarm. Your body stiffened; something was definitely up.
