Lou's p o v

"Thats a nice name. I like it." James said to me.

"Awh thank you. James is nice too." He laughed at this and looked up to the sky.

"Fireworks should be starting soon, do you want to grab a good spot on the beach?" Was he asking to sit with me?

"Errm, you want to sit with me?" I unsurely asked.

"Yeah, if that's ok. My mate ditched me and I don't know anyone else here."

"Oh ok yeah sure, I'll just text my friend." I grabbed my phone and James steered us to the perfect spot on the beach. We sat down together on the soft sand.

'Hey Gracie:) I'm feeling better now and I've met this guy on the beach I'm gonna stay with him for a bit. Is that alright? I'll meet you later xx'

As always she replied within seconds.

'Ooh! A guy;) didn't your dad say no boys? Hehee ok me and will are still ok rides meet you on the pier at 11?xx'

'I don't even know him that well! Haha! And yeah ok:) see you later hun xx'

I put my phone back in my pocket and looked over at James.

"So how come I've never seen you here before?" He asked me.

"I don't actually live here. I've come to stay with my friend for the summer."

"The whole summer! Wow!" He sounded really surprised.

"Yeah, I come down every summer."

"Don't you spend it with your family?"

"No. They're always working. I don't see them much." I say while looking at the ocean. I wish I did spend more time with my parents.

"Oh..." I couldn't tell he didn't know what to say to that, and it made me smile.

"So how old are you?" I inquired.

"17, you?"

"16."

"When's your birthday?"

"August 14th, yours?"

"30th of April, so only just 17." He smiled at me.

"Ah, well, happy birthday for a month and a bit ago!"

"Haha cheers." He laughed.

I got my camera from my bag again and turned to take some pictures of all the people rushing to get spots on the beach. The silhouettes of the people looked great with the bright lights from the fairground. I smiled while positioning my camera and took a series of photos.

"Your in to photography then?" James asked while watching me take the photos.

"How can you tell?" He laughed.

"Just a hunch."

"Hahaha yeah I love photography." I sat back down next to him and raised my camera to take a picture of him.

"Ah no! I bet that looks crap!" He said while leaning forward to take my camera.

"No! Haha go away!" I teased and held my camera up with one arm, holding him back with the other. He grabbed my free arm and lent over me to get the camera.

"No!" I giggled and went behind him to get my camera back. I couldn't stop smiling, and neither could he.

"Hmm I think we should take a selfie. What do you think?" He said turning his head around to see me. I placed my hands on his shoulders.

"Alright then." I smiled. James faced the camera so the lens was pointed at us and took a photo. Then he took another and another. I sat by his side again and then an announcement was made that fireworks would start in five minutes.

For those five minutes we talked about my photography. He seemed so interested in what I did, he asked lots of questions and smiled at my answers. I'm not sure he understood most of it. I went all camera talk on him;)

The same announcer began a 10 second countdown for the start of the fireworks. We joined in shouting the numbers and he leaned back, resting on his arms, looking at the sky. The first fireworks were sets of rockets. I took a few photos and then went to lean like James was. As I put my hand on the sand, I accidentally put it on top of James's. I shot him an awkward look, blushed, and moved my hand back to the sand. I could feel him watching me, and in the corner of my eye, I could see him grinning.

James's p o v(a few minutes before)

Where is Brad! How could he have disappeared so quickly! I sent him a text.

'Where are you mate?'

No reply.

'Brad!?'

No reply.

I should look for him. Maybe his phone has died or isn't on, he wasn't going to reply. I turned around and accidentally knocked into a girl taking a photo. She gasped and began to tip backwards. I grabbed her waist keeping her upright and she took my wrists for support.

I feel so bad! I could have broken her camera, and I must have knocked her quite hard.

"Are you alright? I'm so sorry! I didn't mean too bump you!" I said to her trying to see if she was ok. She looked at me and smiled. She had a lovely smile, I could look at it all day. It was too dark too see all the detail on her face but from what I could see she was gorgeous. I loved her style, she was wearing dark skinny trousers, a leather jacket and a Coldplay shirt. She had good music taste, I liked that. I was so embarrassed though. I didn't mean to almost knock her down. Nice one james.

"Haha it's fine! I'm fine. Thanks for keeping me upright!" She had such a sweet voice. A definite accent but I couldn't tell what it was. She was fine and not mad at me. Thank god.

"It was the most I could do. Sorry if I ruined you picture."

"Don't worry, those lights aren't going anywhere, I can take another. And Urrhm... You... You can let go of me now." Oh god. I didn't even realise I was still holding her, it just felt so right. She must think I'm crazy. I awkwardly looked away from her and rubbed my hair.

"Oh yeah... Sorry..."

"Hahaha stop saying sorry! She laughed and nudged my arm. Her laugh was so cute:) I looked at her and her smile was there again.

"Sorry." I said cheekily.

"Again! Really!" She said with laughs, I joined in.

I introduced myself and she did too, her name was Lou. There's something about this girl that just makes me smile, I don't know what it is. I've only been talking to her 10 minutes but I can already tell she isn't like most girls.

She's different.

Since she was alone and brad was no where to be seen I asked to sit with her and watch the fireworks. She seemed surprised that I asked her, maybe because we just met, but she agreed and I led her to a good spot.

We sat in the soft sand and we talked for a while. She comes to stay with her friend for the whole summer, every summer, without her parents. I feel a little sorry for her. She doesn't get to spend much time with her family, but she seemed happy with coming here every year.

She pulled her camera out of her bag and began to take some photos again. She looked as if behind a camera was where she belonged, she loved it. When she sat back down, she took a photo of me.

Playfully, I tried to get the camera off her, laughing and wrestling with her. I got it and she came behind me too grab it. Perfect selfie opportunity.

She knelt down, placing her hands on my shoulders and I look 3 pictures. She smelt so good, I didn't want her to move.

I questioned her about her photography, I didn't understand most of what she was saying but I was really interested. She spoke about it with such passion. Im smiling again, I just can't stop.
