Lou's p o v

Grace forced me to sit next to James at the dinner table, her parents sat at either end and she was opposite me. Steve started the conversation.

"Ah brilliant, you got him to stay!" He said to Grace. They had planned this! They looked at me at the same time with the same cheeky look on their faces.

"It's very nice to finally meet you James, we've heard lots, and lots, and lots, about you." He emphasised on the lots. I put my hand on my forehead hiding my face. Oh dear.

"Have you?," James said, I could feel him watching me. "It's nice to meet you too! Steve isn't it?" He asked looking back at Steve.

"Yes, this is my wife Kate." Steve gestured to Kate.

"Hello james." She said kindly as she was dishing up everyone's food.

"Hello, the food looks lovely!" He replied politely. I admired how polite he was being, he had never met these people before, he didn't even seem nervous.

"Awh why thankyou darling, I hope you enjoy it."

"I'm sure I will."

"Kate's an amazing cook." I informed James.

"I would hope so, I mean I am a chef, thankyou Lou, we need to do some cooking together soon." Kate said smiling.

"Yes! Definitely."

"Ok! Dig in everyone!" Kate sat down at the table and we all began to eat. The conversation going on was mainly between Steve, Kate and Grace. They were talking about Graces gym practices and tactics for the competition.

It was quite funny listening to them, Steve was suggesting things like swapping the talcum powder to itching powder, and pushing the other contestants off the beam. The way he said it was hilarious. Since James and me weren't completely involved in the conversation, I quietly started to talk to him.

"Please don't take anything they say about me seriously!" I whispered to him.

"I'm interested to know what you've been saying about me." He had a proud grin on his face. I made an awkward noise.

"Leave me alone!" I said with a mixtures of giggles and pleading. He laughed at me.

"Don't worry," he said. Then leaned into me and whispered in my ear, "I talk about you a lot too." I suddenly felt a lot more comfortable and began to relax more. My eyes met with graces and she mouthed an 'aawwwh!', I just shook my head and smiled.

"When's the competition?" James asked Grace.

"Sunday at 9, you could come if you like. Will and Lou will be there."

"And I'm sure if Lou's there you'd want to go.." Steve said in a high pitched voice before taking a long sip of his drink. I gave him a stern but playful look, he just shrugged at me as if to say 'what!'. James laughed and blushed a little.

"I don't think I'm doing anything, id love to come to support you." Nice answer James.

"Great! Thanks."

"That's ok, who's will?"

"My boyfriend."

"Ooh!" James said in a cheesy American accent causing Grace to laugh.

For the rest of the dinner, Steve and Kate asked James questions about his family and hobbies.

When we finished dinner, we all praised Kate for her meal. It was delicious. Then we had to decide who did the washing up, and since Kate made the meal and Grace had been at practice, that left Steve, James and me. I felt a little bad that James had to help with the washing up since he was a guest, but it was a rule in this house, and he did say he didn't mind.
