Chapter 18- The Apology

Lou's p o v

"2nd place baby!" I cheered as Grace ran over to me. I raised my hand for her to high 5 and she raised hers, slapping me hard. Ouch.
"I'm so happy! I thought I really messed up at one point." She said in a high pitched happy tone.
"You? Mess up? Yeah right." I reassured her. She was brilliant out there.
"Did you get some pictures of me out there?" She questioned.
"Yep!" I said, popping the p.
"Thankyou."
"Hey you were so amazing out there Grace! I'm so proud of you! And sorry about earlier... I don't know what came over me..." James said standing close to my side.
"Thankyou james! That's ok, you came, that's all that matters." She smiled.

Then will came and joined us...

My opinion on him has changed now. I used to think he was just a nice, normal, everyday sort of guy, but I know more about him now. I am more suspicious of him, and from what James told me, I feel an ounce of hate towards him.

If he ever hurts Grace...

Will flashed me a nervous smile, I'm guessing he knows that i know what he did to james. Damn right he should be nervous. I felt james' strong hand grip mine. He was standing a little bit behind me, with his head facing the ground. I felt so sorry for him. And guilty for making him come.
The awkward tension was back. Anyone watching us must have found it very interesting to watch. Grace and me were standing about half a metre apart, both smiling at each other, and then there was will and james. They both were party standing behind us girls, holding one of our hands, and completely blanking one another. We're just waiting for something to happen now.
Putting james through this was wrong of me. I know how much he hated will now and never wanted to see him again. And because of me, he was standing right in front of him. If I get him out of here then I can apologise. Just as I was about to ask james if he wanted to get something to eat, will spoke up.
"Urrrhmm..." He scratched his head.
"Can I speak to you for a minute james?" James lifted his head and looked at him confused.
"Alone." His grip tightened on my hand, bloody hell he was strong. My hand kills!
"Please?" Will said when he realised james wasn't going anywhere. I turned to him.
"Go on. I'm right here if you need me." He stayed gripping my hand. His eyes looked worried and scared as they gazed into mine.
"Come on james! I mean you could take him down if he pisses you off!" I said gesturing to his muscles. His plain face transformed to a smile.
"Just for you." He said before letting go of my hand and following will through the crowds of people.
"What was all that about?" Grace asked once they were out of sight. "Will told me they knew each other in school but that's all." I took a deep breath in.
"You wanna grab a drink?"

James' p o v

There is nothing I want more than to get away from him right now. All the bad memories come flooding back when I look at him. I'm only doing this for Lou. And for Grace, he is her boyfriend after all.
"Look james mate," he started.
"Don't call me mate."
"I'm sorry. For everything. I was a knob in high school and I know it, especially to you. If I could change how I acted then I would. I know I made you feel like shit dude and I want to make it up to you. I've changed. I swear I have. I'm not like that anymore. I'm so sorry, please forgive me?"
Forgive him? After all those years, I'm not going to forgive him after a 1 minute conversation. I hate this guy. I hate him.
"You probably hate me."
Haha he read my mind!
"But please, if not for me then for Grace." He did sound sorry. His shoulders were slouched making him look embarrassed and nervous. Maybe he has changed. I can't forgive him though, it's not that easy.
"Do it for Lou." He pleaded.
Lou.
She would give him a second chance, she'd try to get along with him. I don't want it to be awkward for her when she's around will... Only Lou could change my mind like this. I'm not going to forgive him, but I'll give him a chance. A chance to prove to me that he's changed.
"For Lou."

Lou's p o v

We sat down in a cafe inside the gymnasium.
"So, spill it Lou." Grace said taking a sip of her tea.
"Ok, well, james and will did know each other in high school. But they weren't friends. You probably guessed that already." She laughed. "The thing is, will used to bully him, and he ruined his relationship with his girlfriend by cheating with her." She looked at me confused and shocked. "Yeah... That's it basicallyyyy..." I trailed off. Im not going to tell her that he did the same to james' friends. I'll tell her when the time is right.
"My will?" She looked utterly shocked. "I never thought he would do something like that, he doesn't seem like the type. Are you sure that's what happened?"
"I believe james. I trust him, and by the way they reacted to eachother, I'm pretty sure it's true."
"Yeah good point. Awh I hope james is ok." She took another sip of her tea.
"Me too, and on a happier note, you wiped the floor with the other contestants today!" I quickly changed the subject. This is graces day, I'm not going to make her have something like this on her mind, and she did do amazingly earlier.
"Hahahaha! Did you see the blonde guy fall off the beam! Ouch, right on his balls." I clapped my hands together laughing.
"Yes!! Then his mum had to carry him out, how sweet."
"Hahaha, ah perfect!"
"Where are you parents? " I asked.
"Talking to my coach, I think we're going out tonight to celebrate, if james is okay with will being there he can come if you like."
"Thanks hun."
"But only If you snog him." She said under her breath before taking a gulp from her tea.
"Uh! Excuse me!" I kicked her under the table. She snorted at me. My phone went off in my pocket. It was james, I answered the call and bought my phone to my ear.

"Hey how was it? Are you okay?"

"Err yeah, I'll tell you about it later, where are you?"

"A cafe, we're finished now, you wanna meet out front?"

"Yeah, car park?"

"Yup, we're on our waaay! See you soon."

I hung up and me and Grace left the cafe and made our way to the car park. James and will were already there waiting when we got there. Will looked more comfortable, but I could tell james wasn't. He was being more discrete now though, he lifted his head as we walked towards them, a slight smile of relief growing at his cheeks.
