A Trip To Remember

Prom (part two)

       I walked up the stage and hugged Nathan. He seemed taken aback but then he wrapped his arms around my waist. When I pulled back I placed my hands on his shoulders.
       "That was really nice. All of you sounded great." I said, smiling at each of them. I'm so lucky to have friends like them. Most boys are so annoying. Well...not that they're not but, they have their moments that make all the stupidity fade away for a moment.
       "Of course," said Tyler.
       "I think I'd like to say something we're all thinking here..." said Rianna, clearing her throat. She smirked and said, "that we are the best fucking squad here."
        We all laughed because that was so Rianna. We made our way off the stage and the DJ went back to his stand and put on Thinking Out Loud, and Rianna and Tyler started slow dancing.
       "Wanna dance?" Said Nathan grinning and holding out his hand.
"Oh you know I'd love to, but I really suck at dancing." I said laughing nervously as I started to slowly turn on my heel.
"You're dancing, you wuss." He laughed and he pulled my arm and he turned me around. Obviously, I knew I couldn't get out of it.
Nathan was continuing to surprise me. He's been growing more and more outspoken and confident and cocky. A year ago, he probably wouldn't have even done this.
"Well someone's confident tonight."
He put his hands on my waist and I reached for his shoulders. I looked around the room at everyone and everything, taking it all in. Caleb and Alysa were dancing really close whispering. Alysa had a slight smile on her face and her cheeks glowed. That bastard was so lucky to have my beautiful friend on his arm.
Rianna and Tyler were dancing close too, under a romantic lighting. I could just read his lips saying "I love you", and they kept swaying to the music with their foreheads touching.
Then I looked at Sophia and Jo. They were slow dancing too, but they were about a foot away from each other, their arms stretched out. She looked like she wanted to kill him and he looked a bit nervous, but I could tell she was having a good time. I laughed because they looked so ridiculous.
"What's so funny?" Nathan said, turning my attention back to him.
I nodded my head once over to Sophia and Jo and he almost burst out laughing but I slapped his arm.
"Oh by the way, how'd you know that I loved that song?"
"I didn't."
"Oh. How did you boys decide on that song though?"
"I don't know it was Tyler's idea ." He said shrugging and chuckling. I laughed too and mumbled 'of course...'
I cleared my throat. "Where'd you try for college?"
He chuckled. "You really suck at small talk Princess." He mocked. "But I tried for UCLA and Michigan and I can't remember the rest."
I hesitate for a second before laughing a little. "You don't remember?" I laughed.
He shrugged as I mocked him and laughed. Then Electric Love came on and some of the slow dancers moved off the floor. Most of our classmates started dirty dancing and I cringed. I knew how much Alysa loved this song so I looked over at her and she was singing and dancing by Caleb. I walked over to her. She looked up at me and grinned and before she could say anything, I said, "I know how much you love this song. We listened to it over and over in the car."
"Hell yeah we did!" She shouted and kept dancing. I jumped in with her and danced, while Caleb stood there looking awkward.
We sang along with the song.
      Eventually our whole group was singing and dancing to the song and we probably looked so stupid, but prom is meant to be magical right? Anyway, after the song was over, we all moved off the floor. We were all laughing because that was fun and everyone was staring, but we didn't care. I caught up with Sophia and Alysa and slung my arms over their shoulders and we caught up with everyone.
After a few more hours of talking laughing and dancing, we all left. Ok, everyone knows that in 7th grade me and Nathan had a thing, but even after all these years they still won't drop it. I didnt get it because we're just friends. Anyway, all the girls and guys were making jokes and comments about Nashlyn and they sang that freaking song I haven't heard in forever.
     "I don't know about you morons but I think I'm interested in a change in conversation. Ryler?" I said smiling innocently at Rianna and Tyler.
     Rianna froze and glared at me and I smirked, rolling my eyes. "Hey don't start something you can't finish." I said with a wink. She flipped me off and slumped her shoulders while people joined in the jokes and I laughed. We were walking out to the car and I took my phone out of my purse. Holy shit. It was 2:34 in the morning and we were all far from home since we had prom a some weird ass place idk where.
    "Guys," I said as I showed them the time on my phone. They all started cheering and whooping loudly and I laughed and rolled my eyes.
    "Ok, I'm tired and I don't want to drive too far. How about we just stay in a hotel or something?" Caleb said.
    "I'm down. Then people can get busy." Said Rianna looking at me. Nathan choked and I gasped and kicked her in the ass while everyone laughed until they cried.
"Rianna!"
   "Sorry not sorry bitch."
    "Ok I'm gonna just call my mom and dad." Said Alysa.
    After all our parents gave us the ok, we gave the limo driver our destination, and we sang all the way.
