It's only been like one minute, but it felt like it was stretching on for hours. Jo grabbed her arms and pulled back with his eyes a little wide and shocked.
"Um—sorry." Sophia said looking even more shocked, covering her mouth.
"I uh-I need to go." Jo said running a hand through his hair. "I'll catch you guys later." Jo said, turning around walking away quickly.
"Wha— wait. Jo! Dumbass!" I called after him holding my hands up. I blew out a breath, rolled my eyes, and jogged to catch up.
"You're just gonna leave like this?" I asked glaring.
"Chill out crazy. I wanna go think because I don't know what the hell happened. I made it awkward as fuck. I'll catch you guys later." He said turning back around and walking.
"You don't even have a car! And you can't just leave when things get hard!" I argued, blocking his path and raising my eyebrows, my face starting to heat up again.
He rolled his eyes and bored into my eyes. I sighed and moved after we stared each other down for a bit. I looked back at Sophia and bit my lip.
This is gonna be messy...
You should've forced him to stay.
You should shut up.
Shut up.
"Ok sooo...Joseph is at the beach. But he failed to mention which one when we are surrounded by beach." Tyler said shrugging and slipping his phone back into his pocket. We were playing Round The World, but mostly just talking and chilling.
"I wonder what that was about. I mean like what happened." Sophia said taking a shot at the basket. It bounced off the rim and Caleb caught it.
"I think, I THINK, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think, you guys made out." Rianna said.
"Rianna don't take this the wrong way, but shut the hell up." Sophia said.
Me and Alysa snickered, but were immediately silenced when Sophia glared.
"Aw damn it I forgot my Asthma inhaler." Alysa said, wheezing a little.
"You okay mate?" Rianna asked tapping her shoulder.
"Yeah I just gotta go get it." She said, taking a drink of water.
"No no. Come on you can't drive. I've got it. I forgot to take my medication this morning anyway." I said waving her off.
"You sure? Thanks." She said sitting down.
"Can you grab mine too, Ash?" Sophia said sitting with Alysa.
Tyler tossed me the keys. I caught them and jogged to the car. I popped open the door, started it, and drove off.
I got to the house and opened the door, setting the keys in the end table. I sighed and grabbed my medication out of the cabinet, took it and set it back.
"Don't freak o—" Someone said behind me.
I gasped and elbowed backward, pulled my knife out of my pocket, whipped around, and held my fore arm to their neck with my fist clenched.
"OH MY GOD CHILL OUT! ITS ME!" Noah screamed at me with wide eyes.
"NOAH WHAT THE HELL." I said lowering my arm and blowing out a breath i was been holding.
"ME 'WHAT THE HELL'? What the heck was that?! Do you have to do that THAT often?!" He said his eyes still wide and his jaw hanging open, holding his abdomen where I'd hit.
"Only when THERES AN INTRUDER IN THE HOUSE. THANK THE LORD FOR MARTIAL ARTS AND INSTINCT." I said emphasizing the last part and walking forward to feel his ribs. He flinched a little but I didn't feel anything bad.
I groaned, and hugged him quickly. "Good to see you, by the way you idiot. I'm sorry about that." I said with a nervous smile.
He still just stared at me in shock, and I grinned, turned, and walked down the hall to grab Sophia and Alysa's stuff.
"What're you doing here anyway?" He asked.
I paused what I was doing and looked at him. "You mean what am I doing in the house that I paid money to stay in?" I said raising my eyebrows.
"You know what I mean smartass." He chuckled.
"We're playing basketball and Alysa and Sophia forgot their inhalers." I said waving Alysa's around when I found it.
"You're playing basketball without me?"
"I'm not even going to answer that question. Go put some basketball shorts on or something." I said with a grin, before I shook my head, and got back to searching.
"LETS GO YOU WATERMELON. YOU TAKE LONGER TO GET READY THAN MY GRANDMA." I screamed from outside, my back leaning on the car.
He came jogging outside wearing basketball shorts and a black dri-fit v-neck. I think he'd left the shorts here from last time he hung out with us.
"Chill out, Ash. Let's go." He said rolling his eyes and jogging past me.
"Im driving." We said at the same time. I held up the keys and dangled it, smirking to myself.
"So who's winning?" He asked when I started the car and started pulling out of the driveway.
"Hm?"
"The game. Of basketball. Who's winning?"
"Oh. Me, Sophia, Tyler, and Nathan."
"Who put Alysa, Caleb, and Rianna on one team with Jo? That's evil."
"Sophia split the teams. And Riannas actually not bad. For a clumsy girl, she's got good hand eye coordination when she wants."
"Well half of that makes sense."
I laughed and he laughed too.
"Did you take self defense lessons?" He asked randomly, glancing at me.
"Yeah. I started when I was 5. Mostly karate, but when I was a teenager my grandma wanted me to take self defense at UFC so I could kick anyone's ass who tried to mess with me."
"Well that didn't work out for you did it." He said raising an eyebrow.
"Shut up. You almost got impaled."
"One. I could've taken you down." I snorted a laugh and shook my head. "And two I'm talking about when Ashlyn gets drugged in a bar and beaten" He said smugly.
"A) that guy was a gorilla. And B) I was under the influence of bad alcohol."
"You should know not to trust strangers."
"And we're here!" I sang. I turned off the car and jumped out, jogging to the court.
"YOU TAKE SO DAMN LONG WHAT...the—." Sophia shouted, faltering when she saw Noah.
"Where did you come from?" Rianna spoke up.
"Hey man," Tyler said, giving him a bro hug.
"Hey guys. Good to see you." he said with a dorky grin.
