We played games like Chicken Fights and Marco Polo all day. Then we checked out and reluctantly left. We called for an Uber and waited outside with our Jamba Juice we got.
"Well, I guess it could be worse." Alysa said, stirring around her smoothie.
"Huh?" Said Tyler.
"Well, in reality, we're only in school for another week, then its graduation." She said doing jazz hands.
"THEN TO PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN." Rianna said, pumping her fist in the air.
"We're just going to the Caribbean you duck head." Said Sophia, rolling her eyes.
"I like ducks..."
The Uber drove up to the curb, and we all squeezed in. We mostly drove in silence, looking at our phones so we didn't annoy our driver. When we got there we all pooled our money and split the cost.
"Can someone cover me? I don't have any money." Said Jo, digging in his pockets.
I rolled my eyes. "Of course you don't"
"I'll pay you back sweetheart." He said smirking and winking. He couldn't help it. He's been a player since middle school.
I turned my nose up, pulled more money out, and handed it all to the driver. "I'd rather sleep with a cactus." I said.
He shrugged and walked to Nathan slapping his arms like they always did for some reason. We all walked up Rianna's driveway and got into her dark blue Mustang. Damn, I always loved her car. I mean, of course I'm always gonna stick to my truck, but it was always fun as hell to drive around in something so light and fast. She'd let me take the wheel every so often and I'd gun it to the beach and do donuts while the girls screamed.
"Can I drive?" I asked hopefully.
"NO!" Everyone shouted in unison, and Rianna launched herself into the driver seat before I could get to the door.
"Ok fine. SHOTGUN!"
"Damn it..." I heard mumbled.
I jumped in the front and everyone else squeezed in the back.
"So where to?" Sophia asked.
"Er, I don't know." Said Rianna, shrugging.
"Ok how about something low key. I mean because we leave in less than two weeks." Said Alysa.
"Then just beach? I mean, it doesn't cost anything." Sophia said.
Rianna pulled the car into reverse and checked her mirrors.
"Sooo... how many colleges are you guys trying for?" I asked.
"I tried for Oregon. I'm trying for Colorado and Washington too."
"I submitted for UW, John Hopkins, and a few others." Said Alysa
"If you guys keep talking about school, I'm driving off this bridge." Rianna warned.
I sighed, "Ok turn on the music then."
She turned her music on and She Looks So Perfect came blaring out of the radio, she turned it up and we all sang along.
Simmer down, simmer down
They say we're too young now to amount to anything else
But look around
We worked too damn hard for this just to give it up now
If you don't swim, you'll drown
But don't move, honey
We rolled the windows down and kept singing loud and forgot about everything else.
You look so perfect standing there
In my American Apparel underwear
And I know now, that I'm so down
I made a mix-tape straight out of '94
I've got your ripped skinny jeans lying on the floor
And I know now, that I'm so down
Hey! Hey, hey, hey hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
We got to Bellows and got out the car and grabbed some floats, body boards, food, and drinks out of the trunk and raced to the beach. Tyler got to our spot first, and Rianna wasn't far behind him and she jumped on his back and they both fell with her on top of him and they broke into a fit of laughs. Then I felt someone's arms wrap around my stomach and pull me down and I find in a flash, Alysa landing on top of me, laughing uncontrollably. I start to tickle her and she thrashed and laughed harder.
After we laugh more, we stand up, dust off, and find a tree to put our stuff under. Sophia decided to stay out of the water, so me, Rianna, Alysa, Caleb, Nathan, Jo, and Tyler went into the water.
We took the lead and walked fast ahead of the boys while we talked.
"Lookin' good ladies," Jo said. I could hear the smirk in his voice, and we all turned around to glare at him.
"Piss off you bloody pervert." Rianna said rolling her eyes, as Caleb and Tyler punched him on each arm.
"Owwwww!" He whined like a little girl.
Alysa cackled and we looked at her with wide eyes.
"Dude, you ok."
She just smirked and shrugged. We got to the edge of the water and me and Alysa dipped our toes in the water and I was a little taken aback. It was a little colder than usual, and I pulled my foot back.
"Is it cold?" Caleb asked.
"A bit." I said with a little nervous smile.
"Good,"
"Why is that go--" and before I knew what was happening, me and Alysa were lifted off our feet and tossed into the water as we squirmed and shrieked. In the COLD ASS water, by the way. We came up from below the surface to find Caleb, Nathan, Rianna, and Tyler just dying with laughter.
"YOU GUYS...SUCK...!" Alysa yelled between breaths, holding her thin, shivering body.
"Hey, its fair play." He said grinning.
"I'll show you fair play," I growled, narrowing my eyes.
I signaled Rianna to kick him and he stumbled toward the shallow water and we grabbed his hands and yanked him down. Me and Alysa raised each others hands up and put a foot on his back each.
"VICTORY!" we shouted in unison. Then he grabbed our feet and pulled us off balance and we fell. From there we just had an epic water fight and soon enough, Rianna, Tyler, and Nathan joined. Then after a while we grabbed our boards and went out to catch some waves. They were bigger than usual, but it was Makapu'u, so we ran out with our boards anyway. We caught a few waves and had a blast and watched each other wipe out a few times. We went back out again and me and Alysa sat on our boards facing each other.
"What's going on with you and Caleb?" I asked.
She shrugged. "What do you mean?"
I gave her a "don't play dumb with me look".
She sighed. "We're just friends" she said.
"You see he's kinda totally in love with you right?"
She laughed and looked at me. "Well what about you and him? Your always hanging out with each other and throwing each other in the water and stuff like that."
"Aren't you guys always saying we look and act like brother and sister?"
"This isn't a big deal. We're friends. Nothing more nothing less, so please just drop--" she gasps and is pulled toward shallow water within seconds before I have time to register why she's screaming at me.
I feel a powerful force come down on me from behind me and I'm pulled under the surf. I roll under the water and I feel sharp pain on my wrist and I wince and yelp. But nothing comes out under the intense surf. I push up on the sand to the surface and I come up for air. As I come up I look around and another big wave overpowers me.
